BAZZA
hi alli was playing around in the garage and have come up with something to make your fingers stronger.i hurt my hand a while back and lost my grip on the handle bars. this would improve brake control and also your grip on the bike.here is what i have come up with. It consists of an old pair of handle bars, 2 brake levers, 2 short bits of brake cable and 2 fairly robust springs to add resistance.the springs are clamped in place with a bolt on to the cable.here's some pictures of it:images hosted by ImageShack

Jonny Shoe
Smo, Powerballs are awesome I have one but they do not strengthen your fingers they strengthen your wrist. The brake levers and springs idea is a very good one well done BAZZA
mat hudson
thats a cool idea man, but only does index finger i guess unless you middle fiunger brake. powerballs seam to be core for strenthening pretty much everything.
Ali C
I want somthing like that...I have a real problem with arm pump when using my braking finger..... my powerball doesnt seem to help as I am keeping my fingers still rather than moving them which is where I get my problem.I thinks I need to make somthing
Endohopper
Great idea , very inventive . Nice to have a spare set of XT levers lying around , too . I've been trying to comat arm pump as well , my rear braking suffers after only a few seconds on the back wheel , something like this could really help , only a trials rider would come up with something like this . Smo™
Smo, Powerballs are awesome I have one but they do not strengthen your fingers they strengthen your wrist. The brake levers and springs idea is a very good one well done BAZZA I figured they would, seeing as they improve grip strength. They also work out every muscle in the arm, in some cases including the shoulder and pectoral. Try holding a Powerball spinning at 13/14k+. Jonny Shoe
Yes I suppose they do although they aren't meant to do your pecs and shoulder because you are meant to keep your arm still when you use them and just use your wrist, but yes now thinking about it they must improve your grips as well, sorry. I can only get it up to 10k.

paule
That's an excellent idea! Nicely done.Best way I've found for keeping finger strength up is to do a bit of climbing, especially bouldering (low-level, tricky, climbing moves) on small holds where your fingers do all the work. BAZZA
i rode the competition the other sunday in keighley and heard a few riders complaining of arm pump. i no that hurts and is highly annoying.i had a pair of handle bars lying around with the levers on them. i was just messing with them. and thought of adding resistance to them. thus there is the finished product.would be cool if i could get the idea patented and what have you, because i no a lot of trials riders would really appreciate it. even the motor bike trials riders.thanks for the comments, thought it would be of use
