JT!
Just adding that the tensile freewheel is comming out soon, so you might want to consider that. It's in between an ACS and a ENO price wise. ACS's are dirt cheap though, i good to replace them every now and again. And locktiting them is a bitch to do. nb88
loctite its easy and it takes 2 minutes. Also means you can service the freewheel again whereas with welding you cant. Just make sure you clean both threads before applying threadlock.

Jaffacakes
I would just lock tight it for the mean while then in a month for two buy a tensile freewheel for £30-35. Edited January 21, 2006 by Jaffacakes
smelly joe
Ive got a welded acs claw and its lasted amazingly compared to the bog standard one i had before. The only thing is that the four points that are used to remove the freewheel have been grounded off so it will be a bitch to get off.If you have the money go for a eno though. Mat Smith!
I've had an un wealded ACS for like 8 months, had no problems with it AT ALL, tightend it like twice.. Awsome Mat
Impacted.
My ACS has done FOOKIN' well to be honest, the tabs appear to have been ground off, it doesn't look welded and I've never tightened it up in the year that I've had it, and it's only skipped a handfull of times ..sweet . I count myself extremely lucky to have such a good working ACS after all the things I've read on this forum.P.S: Will be getting a tensile freewheel when they come out because they look pretty good. Mines never come loose. Anyway, when you pedal it tightens it up more any way Edited January 21, 2006 by cookie456_the2nd
Dan6061
I noticed my ACS was wobbling around a lot when I went to get my bike at this guys house etc. Was gunna buy an ENO for it, but might aswell wait for the Tensile. Will probably be out by the time my bike is back...
mackey
It is worth getting a ACS welded because mine had lasted me ages and doesnt skip often either you dont have to make any maintence to them so it is a good choice or you could wait for the new tensile freewheel cause its meant to be quite good Cheers Mackey
rich4130
Seriously, buy a Claw, take the lockring off it when you buy it, and clean all grease off with thinners etc, and loctite it.I done it to mine, about 18 months ago, not touched it since, It has never ever skipped or casued any trouble what so ever, I gonna stick my neck out and say that it skips less than a hope/king, lasts just as long, and only costs a tenner, has as many engagements as I ever want, and is disposable
Jaffacakes
Also why does every one go on about there freewheels coming loose? Mines never come loose. Anyway, when you pedal it tightens it up more any way It's the bearing cover that comes loose, then your drive train feels rank, then the bearings fall out . I usually just get a screw driver and a hammer, put the screwdriver in one of two small holes and smack it until it is solid. That holds it for a week or two .Seriously, buy a Claw, take the lockring off it when you buy it, and clean all grease off with thinners etc, and loctite it.I done it to mine, about 18 months ago, not touched it since, It has never ever skipped or casued any trouble what so ever, I gonna stick my neck out and say that it skips less than a hope/king, lasts just as long, and only costs a tenner, has as many engagements as I ever want, and is disposable Do you mean all of it, including the bottom layer of bearings the pawls and everything?
