Walleee
unless our problems are the same as yours, other examples wont help. What seems to be the problem in your area?
Michael Hardman
Field day time for Mr HardmanWhere do I start. There is not enough continuity between central goverment and local government polices of sustainable and intergrated transport. The way the government is structured means unless local government policies reflect that of central government funding to implement these polieces will be very hard. Local governments need to be given more power to do what they want.Too much talk about green issues not enough action, Mr Blair put your money where your mouth is you guliable, George Bush sucking twat.Transport policeis are stuck in the past, its all about predict and provide, the majority of transport funds are spent on the roads when the government is trying to discourage the private car. Biggest contridiction Ive ever seen.Whats the point of cycle lanes when cars can park in them, yes if a cycle lane has a broken white lane cars can park in it, I got caustion for hitting a car in a bike lane on purpose.Bikes on trains - health and safety issue, so why are fat people, prams and luggage not a problem.Im tired and hands hurt. ogre
Well in my village i did have a disused quary where i used to do bmx and a bit of mtb but usually just ramps etc had it closed down because one person complained, (i even petitioned through my whole village (population 800ish) and about 30 people wouldn't sign because they didn't understand the concept of bikes being used for something other than A to B, the rest thought that it was good that we (me and biker chums) were making use of the space and had cleared it up (who want's to ride near drugie shit and glass?) and we weren't a menace (half of the time we would borrow spades, barrows etc of the people who lived nearby))Then they spent 8 grand on a new park when it was 2 grand to insure us forever, then they buldosed the whole thing (2 years worth of digging etc gone)So thats the main reason i'm doing this, plus i was told off for riding the park (which as far as i'm concerned i have every right to do) AND the guy who had the place closed even had the cheek to ask me if i had anything else better to do! TomN
What I hate is the tits who goes and stand in the bike area and stands there even though you are there wanting them to move so you can get in, and we you ask em sometimes they ignore you, bells. When this happen to me and I went to the front with my mate and then the train guy came up to us saying we need to get out and move to bike area i said someone was in there and he said we had to get off then and i said if he could ask them to move out and the tits of a trian guy said no so we had to wait for next trian, plus we was gunna get off the next stop! They sold off the train lines a few years ago now...
Jaffacakes
I don't really find the trains in england that bad. I have never been kicked off one, never been told off for taking my bike on a train and the worst problem I had was paying an extra 25p to take on a 2hour journey, but in all fairness I have been just out of cornwall with my bike on a train. When I lived in New Zealand the public transport was/is absolutely crap. The only trains were cargo trains the only buses were school buses (except the two that stopped at the bus stop at 7AM and 9PM). But I suppose being able to drive at 15 is a up side to getting around really. Look at the 3rd world countries which have people sitting on the roof of the trains to get from A-B, at least they don't get told off for taking their bikes on the train .
