Mark W
Went up to the Elan Valley again today. The following stills would mostly have been video clips if Mat wasn't such a dullard and knew the meaning of the words "Battery charger" Anyhoo, overview:That's looking down the valley from the first dam (one of 4 or 5)./\ Preload/\ Weirdly large hop/\ To back wheel.Below is the same sequence but a little different...This is a little surgey wheelswappy powerhoppy thingy majigy from one wet 'n' slippy rock to another wet 'n' slippy rock.More in a sec, reached the max post amount...Last one from that sequence...No matter how many times I say them in a sentence together, "Kujo" and "natural" never seem to fit together...Water ragging over the first dam.Water ragging over the top dam...The following are diff. shots of the same move, pedal-up to backwheel. The take-off was dick, and every time I did it I got sprayed in the face with skanky water from my front tyre. MMMMMMMM.And lastly, I know waht you're thinking: "Buff"

Mark W
More riding went down too, but several things hampered it:Long rides along cycle paths.Mat's cassette locknut shitting the bed, meaning a trip to the bikeshop.Mat leaving his QR on the floor in a carpark by the first dam, meaning we had to drive back to get it.People parking on top of MAt's QR, meaning it's hard to get to (seriously, big carpark, they were the only car there, on top of Mat's QR. Chances = slim).Erm... oh yeah, me nailing my back rim pretty awesomely = 1 flat-spot + 1 weird puncture...But yeah, other stuff happened too, but it's not necessarily documented. Mat rode his Curtis on "proper" natural for the first time, but a 22:16 ratio and Kujo rear meant that it wasn't the ideal UCI comp-beating machine you'd probably hope for Fun time anyway, except I now have to hose my bike down before work
mat hudson
some propper cool photos, i really liked the ones taken under the bridge, they were "reet goood".it was a gasho on the rear mark was funny when we got to the carpark, and i had to ask the c**ts who'd parked on it if they had seen it. when we found it under the car they offered to move the car but someone decided that i could definatley reach it without them having to move the car. cheers mark. anyway, i looked like a tard, people were laughing at me, woop.that puncture was well wierd too, sorta shit the bed and let out loads of air then sealed itself for a little while oh ye, funniest people ever, movie star types . they came in a bmw and the woman looked like she'd rather have been somwhere else, then instead of waliking their dog, they chucked it out of the car and let it chase for a few hundred meters then let it back in. fags. Mark W
Holy popular thread, Batman.Few more, which hadn't appeared before in the resized folder for some punk-ass reason...Yes, the run-up was shit. I had to use part of a smashed brick to scrape some of the Uber-slip Mossâ„¢ from the landing on the wall. If I was Benito Ros, I'd have people to do that for me "?" Couldn't get a high enough shutter speed to 'freeze' the water like I wanted to, but thar we go.Art-fag shotWank shot of the first dam, from the perspective of the visitors centre. Didn't get it like I wanted to, but we had to go and sort bikes 'n' shit out, so it was done at pace Thanks for all the comments so far

Mark W
Yeah Dave, sorry to disappoint, but man - that was some f**kin' wet floor-age there It was way, way wetter than when we went there, and it wasn't shit-hot when we were there. Just wasn't gonna happen. To put it into perspective, if you remember the rocks by the river we rode when you came up - they're totally submerged. So much rain! Ah well, was fun anyway.Again, thanks for all the comments

Jaffacakes
Some awesome pics there mark, I really liked the first pics of the back wheel. You could have done some awesome stuff with a really slow shutter speed and the water going down that dam .
mat hudson
but the fact of the matter is that even on a fast as f**k shutter speed it still looks just like a white mass
Mark W
Some awesome pics there mark, I really liked the first pics of the back wheel. You could have done some awesome stuff with a really slow shutter speed and the water going down that dam . The only problem with that was that the water is crazily white and bright when you look at it, so it would've been somewhat of a whore to get right. On a calmer day though, it'd be cool. Gonna go up there again and photo it up again to try and build up my portfolio more. Today was more about riding than photography

Mark W
Thanks very much Yeah, it just sorta "fits". It's improved every aspect of my riding, but it's made riding all fun again, 'cos it's quite a lively bike to ride with my setup, so it's all good...Thanks again for all the comments! flipkickbs
Nice pictures, i especially like the 'comically high' sidehop to backwheel in the first sequence. Some of those more arty pics were pretty nice aswell, the lighting in the one taken under the bridge with you bike in shot looks very well composed (better if your bag wasn't on the floor). Haven't really read the thread through so well so not sure whether this has been asked. but what camera did you use for those shots? Thanks Ian
Mark W
A luverly Canon EOS350D digital SLR. If you want any more info, I think they were taken with ISO400, using the EFS 18-55mm USM lens
