has anyone on here taken gcse pe and chosen trials as one of ther chosen sports to be graded on.

i ask because i only really have 2 good sports at the moment (golf and badminton) and i need some more.

i still have till i start yr 11 to decide but was just wandering if it was possible.

I took the GCSE in year 10 (2005/04) and only common sports i.e football, tennis etc were allowed. However I believe my younger brother who is now taking it is using skating as one of his options. Obviously ask your teachers first but if no luck, phone up the education board and ask them directly. If not, football/rounders are really easy to get top grades in so just put in some practice and you will be laughing.

im in year 12, and for my Gcse coursework i had to teach someone else a sport, i chose tennis. And i have just finished my 1st yr 12 AS pe which was a personal exercise programme (PEP) and they let you do any sport that you like, cos my mate did it. you must do a differant system to us, but you can do Trials as long as your able to justify every thing and if the coursework is aimed on improvment in the sport then just show improvment or lie like most people do. :D(Y)

Meh i tried but they wouldnt let me but you can use trials to your advantage e.g. gym, expolsive power ballence and such makes it piss easy in yr. 11 im doing

Badmintion - 117/120

Football - 110 / 120

Gym 71 / 80

Rugby 65 / 80

i think its about 2 marks off an A but then again didnt / havent done any CW (i plan to when i no longer intend to go out riding :P)

It's nothing to do with PE, but for my English 'Speaking and Listening presentation' i brought my bike in and explaind the parts on it that were different to a normal bike ie. the no saddle, small chainring, wide handlebars, etc... and i showed a video of me doing some tricks and said what the tricks were. i got a high B which is my best English grade.

anyway i wouldn't have thought youd be allowed to do Trials as your sport for pe cos it's not the same type of sport, it needs to be one of the one that the teachers know the rules of and it actually needs to have rules in the first place.

hey, im in year 10, and studying btec sport, like the intense version of gcse pe, i did a health and safety leaflet on trials and came out with a clear distinction. i dont see why it would be a problem, just because it isnt a main stream sport such as football or rugby, doesnt mean those who participate cant share.

well try it dude thats all i can say (Y) good luck

I asked if i could do downhilling and my teacher really took an intrest and was well up for me doing it. He thought it was a brilliant idea, after showing him pictures of me and some DH vids he thought it was a brilliant sport, so he looked into it for me. But then he left and the teacher that took over said 'NO its not a sport' I told him about the previous teacher he didnt care so i had to do rugby!! Pants!!

heyy i did kayaking as my one of my sports for GCSE PE and was allowed. The examination board has to have a sheet thing for it though. They might have a sheet for normal riding but i doubt whether they would have one for trials as it is not exactly a known sport. They would class it more as a hobbie rather than a "sport". Have a go anyway with your teacher but be nice about it. Tell he/she what its like so they know what to look for on the board.

I asked to do trials for my coureswork, we have to write up a 6 week training thing but Im not allowed...

Guess I'll do football :(

they let me do my course work on it but i wasnt aloud to take it for an option. mainly because i dont have a real coach like a swimming club etc. they do let you do extreme sports my ate is doing snow boarding. they tried to get me to do it but i dont think they ley me.

No, you can't . The reason is you have to have a qualified couch in that sport to grade you if its not somethings like football, badminton( well things you can do in school). So unless you can find a qualified couch for trails, which i doubt, you can't do it.

If your good at badminton you should do something like tennis, which is is a similar game.

Trials does have rules if you ride comps. I know someone that does mototrials for G.C.S.E. p.e. (Y)

there is this lad in my set at school and for his course work he taught kickboxing, he sucks ass and id lamp him haha, so if anything, trials should at least be allowed for a sport for u to be assessed by, and if you got a video for the exam baord etc. aaaah well!
