wayneone
Hello everyone.I supect i have been sold a fake onza ronnie rim from trialsshop.co.uk.I bought a onza t-rex spec 2 from them about 2 months ago perhaps a bit less, which as you might already know comes with a ronnie rear rim and hog front rim. When i got the bike i looked at the "ronnie" and thought to my self that's a big wide ronnie(having previously owned one on my old bike) but i shrugged it off as nothing, then on sunday i did a 2ft drop and buckled it! having no knolege of reparing wheels i took it to my matey at my lbs and he tru'ed it up for me. When i went and picked it up today he told me id put a 2" flat spot on it. Now to me this sounds out of character for a ronnie rim my old one tool loads of abuse and stood up to it all. So i checked on tartybikes at the spec of a ronnie rim this is as it goes...38mm wide mine is 48mm wide15mm braking surface mine had a 17mm surfaceMine does have eyelets like the ronnie but doesnt have the 2 ridges at each edge.Personaly i think ive been done by trialsshop.co.uk i think they have offloaded a lookylikey rim onto me. Anyone else got a spec 2 t-rex with a ronnie same as mine?
Matt_Tupman
Just sounds like a rear hog rim which is what i thought they came with
tipsy Jock
Sounds like you've got a hog rear rim too
Waynio
ye spec2 come with Hog rear rims which are wide as hell and a 2" flat is hard to do you would be braking agenst the blinking tyre. if its got a "really" bad flat spot then it wont brake against the rim correctly, i dont understand how people can ruin these rims to easily, it takes me all my brute frigging force to destroy try-all ones and I still havent broken one.Waynio............... wayneone
Most definatly says ronnie on the spec though. But still is a hog rim that weak? it folded like a deck chair!Edit: Just read you post wayne, its a 2" wide not deep. aust
id never use anything but a hog rim... ive used both the hog AND the ronnie... the ronnie is a little to eavy for my liking... but was trong as hell.. the hog is wider and lighter which is to my preferance... and i still dont have any trouble with them.. never broke a single one
Mat Smith!
My 19" Hog rim doesn't hold grinds at all. But my mates 19" Ronnie holds way more, but dent's... I've hardly dented my Hog yet Mat
Tom Booth
Just put a mother of a dent in my hog rim after 2 medium grinds...Ahh well.. Cant fault it to much thou...feels nicer on the back whel with the added width over my last ronnie

shovel
the wheel was probably just built very poorly with uneven/loose spoke tension and thats why it's folded that badly, no wheel should really buckle that bad off of a 2ft drop unless you land very hard and sideways
Dr Greenthumb
I don't trust trialsshop.co.uk at all, since they messed me around with my t-mag. Apparantly it got lost somewhere and i've heard this happens a lot
wayneone
I don't trust trialsshop.co.uk at all, since they messed me around with my t-mag. Apparantly it got lost somewhere and i've heard this happens a lot I didnt want to use them but they messed there price up on the website. So i got the bike for £649 not £699 also they gave me a free carbon booster. But all in all they got the bike to me in 3 days so i cant complain.
