bikerboysam1
I just broke my front Magure Louise... So, as I now need a new front disk brake, I was just wondering which was the best-value-for-money? (Cheap-ish) I haven't really got much money at the moment so I will have to save up.Si (bambi_3) said I could get a Magure Julie for about £50. Where? I can't find one. Thanks a lot,Sam

Simpson
Avid Mechanical BB7 £69 best value for money !
hulltrialser
Id go for an avid bb-5 as those little twisty bits on the size of the bb-7 like to pop off also they are only £40 from crc.Ben
CurtisRider
hydro wise, julie and deores are cheap as fookery-about 50quid on ebay/from the woolyhatshop, but you get what you pay for-the julies are made by magura=shit seals from my experience with their higher end models, as well as poor build quality, the deores are solid, but ideally need bigger rotors-a 185 deore with ebc reds would be pretty good judging by my old rear 1 with a 160 rotor and standard pads cable wise, well theres only 2 choices, the avid bb5 and bb7, both just as good powerwise, but the bb7 has more adjustability-its your call dont forget you need to budget a cable and lever if you dont already have 1i would choose the bb7 with a avid/shimano lever and linear slick cable-cheap and reliableyou havent mentioned the problem with your louise? tell us wassup and we may be able to help you get it working again

Jsy Ben
I have two mates who both run either double disc setup or just run a disc up front, they do not ride trials specifically but more street/trails all though their bikes are "trials-able" so...One mate runs an Avid BB7 up front, and swears by it, literally, "...f-ing disc for life..." There is ALWAYS postive feedaback on them, but of course with everything that is for a reason...they are unquestionably awesome value for money and brilliant performance .My other mate runs the double disc setup...both deore disc brakes...these discs have the price tag of a cable disc, but the power of a 4pot Hope ! really ! http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=632So personally im opting for the deore over the Avid... why ? because: there cheap £50-hydraulic (better overall in my mind)personal experience with themand a mount can be added to the caliper for it to be able to take a 180mm rotor, so happy days avids are down even lower... http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=2617It appears 05 magura julies are not produced anymore the 06 has taken over (makes sense really) if you were after another 05 but heres the 06...http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=9451a lil' over budget for you though... Clarky
The best value for money disk brake is an Avid Mechanical they offer very sharp power,More lock on and sharpness then that of say hope and magura. They are Cheaper then that of a hope or magura also and a lot less fathing around when things go wrong i.e You have to replace a £2 cable not send it back to hope to get it fixed.Clarky
Rich Pearson
Avid Mechanical BB7 with XT or XTR lever. The avid's are 55quid on CRC and there are no shortage of XTR or XT levers for sale in the For Sale/Wanted section, and if you can't manage to get one from there then an XT lever is only 20quid on CRC or even a speed dial 3 for a tenner (not so nuts over the avid levers though...) Trust me, I'm running double disc avids with XTR's and they are the shit. Rich
