Greetings
First of all, which disc to choose. It's going to be mounted on a mod bike, rear. The adaptor im making will accept discs size 6-8". The problem is, that any disc larger than 6" will require a front caliper. Options:Hope Mini (180-200mm)-Hope M4 (180-200mm)-Hope Trials-Any other reliable hydros? (not exceeding 120 pounds)I'd preferably go for the Mini or M4. After all a 8" disc on a 20" wheel is like having a 270mm rotor on a stock. Therefor i think that the Hope Trials would make modulating the power a precision sport. Asking because i dont want the most powerful option, but a balance between power and modulation.Which of these would you choose? Do you know a bike store that would sell a front brake with a long hose (1400mm)?And just in case anybody knows - i heard that a rear bmx king hub with an iso shell results in the disc being closer or further away from the frame mount. Do you know how large the dislocation is? I can manage 5mm Edited January 15, 2006 by Inur
Tomm
Avid Juicy 7? They come with flippable levers so you can buy a rear and put the lever on the right (I guess that's what you're after?). Beware of buying a front disc to put on the back, as the mounts are in a slightly different place on frame/fork, hence a front 180 disc has a different caliper to a rear 180 disc. Greetings
Tomm, that's what im after. I still havent made the adaptor, but have done some preliminary work and I do need a front caliper. When i get the brake, i will adjust the adaptor, so it takes a front caliper. Tomm
I think you just need a +20mm adapter to run a front brake on the rear, you don't have to make your own adapter. But why bother anyway? You can get discs with either hand lever. What you need is a rear disc witha right-hand lever. Like I said the Avid will work fine, but you can get Hopes etc with the right-handed lever too.
