monty rider
Hi Everyone, I have just been looking on OTN and found this. >>> OTN<<< .What dose everyone think to it and would you recommend it if you have done it, I thought it looked really impressive and wanted to try it myself.Has anyone else ever thought about doing this or actually done it, If anyone has could you please share your ideas and upload some Pictures for me and everyone else to see please. It would be a big help... Thanks. Phil Edited January 13, 2006 by monty rider
ogre
I can't imagine it being to amazing because with a circular hole in the rim the force from and impact etc is spread evenly, but with a square shape it will concentrate the shock on the corners which could crack it etc, I might be wrong but i'm confident that thats right. But it does look mighty phine!
Ross Gardner
that looks wicked!! look much better than circluar drills, bigger drills also meaning lighter Edited January 13, 2006 by gawk
2sixstreet
That looks pretty awesome. I dont think the strength would be compromised too much since the ends are still round. If they were truly square (sharp corners) then they would act as stress raisers and would crack in no time.

ogre
I know there arent "corners" as such but there's still a focused edge isn't there (not as bad as a 90 degree corner though)

mike
Don't get me wrong but i thought square drilled rimes are quite old, and onza have been doing their funkyHedgehog holes in their rims for like a year now. i'm confused or is this old news? and JT needs to come along with his old news is so exciting image Mike!!! mike
One square drill bit as promised. Thats not a drill bit it's a punch, if you were to put that into a drill it would spin therfore causing the hole being drilled to become circular.Mike!!!! Brian Bleech
Thats not a drill bit it's a punch, if you were to put that into a drill it would spin therfore causing the hole being drilled to become circular.Mike!!!!you could set the drill just on hammer
mike
Even then it still spins doesn't it? unless you get the SDS plus or whatever it is. i might be wrong, and i probably am, but with my drill when it's on hammer, it spins and knocks.Mike!!! petit_pablo
Hammer setting on drills is for drilling concrete or stone! And yes it will still spin!Square holes look sweet!
T_PRO
I prefer the round holes, does anyone know where/or if i can get some white rim tape from?
wayneone
Its actualy a morticer bit. it has a drill inside which removes the bulk of the material then the square sides cut the rest out to make the square shape, we use them in woodwork but i dont think it will work in metal work. matt rushton
Benito ros had them rims years ago when the drilled rims first stared, so that isn't new news.
