Bluegrass
So i replace my brake light bulbs as they both were shot, but still theres no hope. Im guessing there must be internal wiring problems, so its a garage job. Would anyone know what the basic problem would be, and costs of wiring for brake lights? Maybe a long shot but just need a clue, cheers

JTM
ill second fuse lolIf both bulbs are out, its usually a beter first bet than changing bulbs!
haydon_peter
I would hope there was more than one fuse for the brake lights? I read somewhere about someone getting pulled by the police on a motorway at night because they had no rear lights, it turned out both the left and right rear lights were on the same fuse So it would be a bit stupid if it was just one fuse for both rear brake lights... Danny
So it would be a bit stupid if it was just one fuse for both rear brake lights...Its quite possible as fuses go rather rarely and if they do its usually for a reason.E.g. on a mini a single fuse does all the followingstoplights, reversing lights, indicator flasher unit, heated rear window
Lawnmowerman
Sure its not your brake switches?
endofreak
I've never come across a car that has had more than one fuse for the brake lights.
trials_pimp
I would hope there was more than one fuse for the brake lights? Your hopes fade. There usually is only 1 fuse to contol the brake lights, and its usually paired with a few other systems.Bluegrass, what car do you have?Instead of taking to a garage, fix it yourself. Brake lights are a very simple circuit on most cars (all but the newest computer controled cars)Youve got the brake light switch on the pedal, fuse, bulbs, wiring, and power and earth.check you have 12v coming to the switch, and 12v coming to the bulb holder when the pedal is down (good tip here, use a long screwdriver/stick to wedge against the seat and hold the pedal down while toy check for feeds)Check that the bulb holder hasnt corroded away (comon on alot of cars) and that the earth is good.Easily done, with very little tools.
