Style In Trials...

Hi

I think, control give trials style. If you have a flowing line with no control it will look rubish.

Control and flow mixed together and variety of big and tech moves.

But saying that every rider has there own personal style. So i could look at a million riders and pick somefing out of there riding style which i like.

But control is the key!

Personally i'd say that trials isn't really stylish. where is the style in jumping off a wall on a bike? or sidehopping up a stack of pallets?

Trials is much to stop-start to be stylish and smooth, it's always a jump followed by slamming on the brakes in order to stop the bike from flying out from under you, some trials can looks stylish if it's like all spins, and flicks etc...

i'll tell you what does looks smooth and stylish, FLATLAND!!!!

there's nothing that looks smoother!

Are you a complete joke? You are telling me that doing a 7 foot gap to front wheel so smoothly and effortlessy is not stylish? Riding on rocks fluently and accuratly is not stylish? Do you even know what style is?

I honestly don't think there is much style in trials, because its all a bunch of preset moves. I believe its more that once you've mastered the move, once its effortless, you end up adding flair. Its just the way it is. I doubt you could identify a particular riding style, and be able to categorically box it off as riding style A.

Maybe some pro's have a riding style, but I honestly doubt if they all dressed it black, and took turns riding, many people wouldn't be able to say who each rider was.

porter knows the truth. akkers!!!!!!!

style is defined in how you do a move NOT what moves you do

Sorry... :D As usual i'm pretty crap at explaining what i'm trying to say.

I'm saying that the moves we all do is the style: a particular manner or technique by which something is done Over say how cool it looks Flair: a uniquely attractive quality

I'm saying that the way someone taps up a wall uses the same technique AKA Style.... Where as some riders do it with so much flair it is unbelievable.

So unless someone has a unique technique for getting over something.... if they are performing a move no one else can, surely then we all have a similar style??

Or am I missing the point

Well different people have different enturptetations of style, but to me style is flowing, and smooth landings, where as trials is mostly jumps, and drops where you stop instantly after, or you ride off, ok some moves in trials are stylish (if done well) But even if you watch the amazing riders in competitions, it's all stop start, stop start,

Don't get me wrong, i love trials, but it's not one of the sports that i'd class as stylish, it's my personal opinion though, dissagree all you like, it makes no difference to me.

Well, there are many different things that add style to trials. I agree, flow/smoothness is very important especially for looks but also safety because if you are not so smooth, then your balance is probably not as good. Next, I would say balance is very important, this is mainly because I think it is the key to trials but also because it does look much better/stylish if you have good balance. Thirdly, I would have to say technique because if you start to learn with a poor technique, then you will not develop your skills as good or as quickly. And finally, generally when you perform tricks, it is looks so much better if you actually manage to 'pull it off' than if you muck it up. However we all do muck up occasionally but that is all part of learning.

Hope that makes sense,

im sorry i have to disagree, ryan leech is the best, if you have seen his dvd manifesto then you will know that he has got the flow in trials mastered. no set up hops. no recovery hops. just one smooth unfaultering line. (Y)(Y)(Y)(Y)(Y)

Clawz

And probably a whole heap of failed attempts you don't see :-

But when it works it does look good.

I think been able to link moves makes it stylish, especially in street.

I think the only time trials looks stylish is when people do a move without any bodges (like in manifesto) or when someone drops something and then they land super low down over their bikes (most do it anyway) and roll off like they didn't even try... (i saw someone do something like that on extreme, why i started trials) and i'm pretty sure no one will understand me!
