Avid Juicy 7 Or Bb7

Hi

Im thinking of getting either a 203mm bb7 or juicy 7 up front on my stock but cant decide on whether to go hydro or not? Ive rode Siders Juicy and his 160mm disc was truly immense  yet on the other hand ive read many positive reviews on the avid mechanical  Does a well set up bb7 truly have the power of a hydro? Any help appreciated on both brakes now Juicy's are becoming a more popular brake. (Y)

Cheers

Sensible option: BB7

They are amazing brakes, and I've seen them for as little as £40. That is an absolutely awesome deal, and if you have a decent front brake lever lying about, that makes them about a third of the price of a Juicy :o . You really can't go wrong at that price. They are just stupidly powerful and a doddle to set up. Downsides: Easy to break the caliper arm and lose the red bits if you hit it on a rock. I think they are pretty heavy, too.

Money no object: Juicy 7

I just bought one and it's basically a hydro BB7 (in case you hadn't guessed). The power is there but you also get modulation too and all the feel of a hydro brake. And the lever is really nice too. Downsides: A lot more difficult to set up than the BB7 as you don't have any pad adjustment at the caliper. Also the hose enters the caliper on the side so it could potentially get hit by a rock. But these are just small, irrelevant, things when you realise just how awesome the brake is. I'm very happy with mine

Take your pick really, both are really good deals, you can't go wrong. The BB7 is the second best brake available for trials (that I have tried, anyway) and it's dirt cheap. The Juicy is even better, but you have to pay for it (although it's not really any more expensive than any other hydro disc).

BB7 any day. I cant think of a time when you would need more power than the give? And the modulation is fine on them too once you learn to use it.

Word. I'm running the 203 on my mod, and it feels awesome. Locks when I need it to, but there's still enough modulation for virtually everything. I say "virtually everything" simply 'cos I haven't found anything it hasn't been good at doing, but no doubt someone will...

Oh, and mine isn't good at keeping the left side plastic adjuster cap on. Black tape is. :(

i've just bought a bb7, not fitted it yet though, heard theyre reet good, only 40 quid here aswell: http://www.on-one.co.uk/index.php?module=p..._position=46:46

That's where I got mine from, although it does say "Rock Shox/Avid/SRAM offers close on 5th Jan!!!", so I dunno if they'll still give you one at that price. Worth a phone call though I guess.

And I don't care what everyone says about the BB7, the Juicy is better :P
