DaiTrials
Hey guys, im looking to build a new 24" Street Trials bike by may. My buget should be up to £1,500 by then. Now essentially i can only see 4 diffrences between it and a 26" and that is frame, fork, rims, tyres. So I thought it best to get some advice off those who've ridden them. I'd like to think im not a weight freak, but every 24" bike i pick up ways a TON so bare weight in mind for me, and give some figures if u got em!What 24" trials frames would you recomend? Ashton ET, Charge, Curtis, Leason? LightestAre there any 24" specific forks? are there and ones similar to the fattys in both weight and style?I dont like the idea of a 26" fork with movable mounts cos it seems to me the front end would be too high. Advice? What rims should I be going for? I was thinking Sunn Rynos oin a 24", whats good? Finally, what tyres are available for trials use in 24" can you get mitchalin hot's cos red would be coolAM looking to build a nice black 24" Street bike with only one other colour in theme, thanks
fredrico
Hi personally i would go leeson and having a 26" fork shouldn't raise the front too much because it would be counteracted by the geometry however i'm not 100% sure. For rims i would go for the Sunn Rynos(the wider ones) for tryes i would go for Tioga but i'm sure some other people can recommend more. The reason for going with leeson is that they build your own geo they can make your own custom bike using the parts you want.

Tomm
Now essentially i can only see 4 diffrences between it and a 26" and that is frame, fork, rims, tyres. So I thought it best to get some advice off those who've ridden them. I'd like to think im not a weight freak, but every 24" bike i pick up ways a TON so bare weight in mind for me, and give some figures if u got em!Well forks don't have to be different. 24" forks are the same geometry as 26" forks, the only difference is the placement of the brake mounts. So, you can use a disc and not have to worry about forks. That's what I'm doing. The other options are Leeson forks (Which I think are just Pashley forks with moved brake bosses), Ashton forks (they have both 24" and 26" brake bosses AND a disc mount), Onza Smart guy forks (although I'm not sure if they are sold separately to the Onza Zoot frame at the moment). But my recommendation would be to just use some normal 26" forks and get a front disc. Spokes have to be different for 24" though Just because a bike is 24" doesn't mean it as to be heavy - my bike is lighter than most people's 26" easily. But having a Leeson/Curtis 6lbs frame probably doesn't get you off to a very good start. As for frame choice, I would go Leeson for sure. The Ashton is a very nice frame and super-light, but they all seem to break (probably something to do with being 3.2lbs ). Curtis are an extra £100 ish on top of a Leeson and I don't really see the point in spending the extra. I'm sure you know that with Leeson you can order any geometry you want (within reason obviously), so they just seem like a great deal. I miss my Leeson (It was stolen)I pretty much agree with Davetrials' spec apart from the forks (There's nothing wrong with Leeson forks, but there's no need for 24" specific forks if you're running a disc). If you speak to Clive Leeson he will be very happy to spec a full bike for you and get it built. He's also very reasonable in terms of price so that might be the way forward, unless you particularly want to build it yourself. As for tyres - it's gotta be Maxxis. They do a few in 24", the swampthing is nice for a rear tyre. Avoid Tioga factory DHs like the plague, but the newer ones (Blue Dragon, White Tiger etc) are OK. I had a Blue Dragon on the front, it was good I don't think you can get Hot S's in 24", but count that as a blessing as they are pretty awful.Tioga rims are good (grind the sidewall to use with a rim brake even though they say disc-only), as are Rhyno Lite XLs. It's probably not a crucial decision really, any 24" rim will do OK.

narrowbars
Hi mate. This what you need. Its in very good condition and worth over £2000.00 at rrp. It comes spec'd with the finest parts money can buy including a Titanium chris king headset. At the moment the bike hasen't been ridden in 4-5 months. The frame has a crack at the headtube but Clive (leeson) is more than happy to fix that f.o.c and paint it any colour you want. The asking price is a very reasonable £1000.00 posted. Let me know if your interested Paul
