tom tom Posted January 8, 2006 Report Share Posted January 8, 2006 (edited) i was recently (today) polishing a set of silver zoo forks and i realized after a couple goes around that i had gone through the brushed aluminium finish to the bare metal and i would have to say it looks better now.i haven't quite completed it yet but so far heres the difference from an hours polishing.before:after:as you can see it is not finished but i have only done part of one side, it will also need tiding up a bit for a clear finish but what do you think?tom tom Edited January 8, 2006 by tom tom Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Greetings Posted January 9, 2006 Report Share Posted January 9, 2006 (edited) heyits just what Ive been doing for the last few days, polishing everything in the bike that isn't silver.this is some of my work:this is a echo 06 rim I got down to a few days ago. it took me about 5 hours to remove the anodised finish, and another two to start polishing it. since the photo has been taken i have re-polished it and it looks better, still need to do it at least once. finally use brasso and a special lacker for polished aluminium.this is a 06 zoo fork I polished in July, still in good condition Edited January 9, 2006 by Inur Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Don't really know why, but unless reapplying a protective outer I wouldn't bother. Surly the finish doesn't last?I'd rather ride my bike than clean it Although some good work there. The rim is nice firstly I used a sand paper (120/240) fan-wheel on a drill, unfortunately that left in some deep scratches, which can be seen on the photoafter trying to remove the scratches with 500/1000 sand paper, i starded polishing it with a special polishing wheel mounted on a drill (fairly hard fabric) using a polishing stone that under heat gets into the fabric and makes polishing much easier. need to get some better tools, because what i'm actually using is a bit crude and difficult to handle well Edited January 9, 2006 by Inur Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
