manuel
In England, you either go BIG or go HOME. haha nice but remember - do the goon again = most downloaded of all time on trials-shack....
Mark W
Not to mention it's actually nice to watch, unlike a shitload of the super-heavy-soundtrack CLS/Tunni clone videos out?
Enigma
Does anyone have those videos?
Mark W
I have a feeling Do The Goon's on Google's video site. If you mean the trialskings vids, they should be on OTN's video pages (not the Biketrials Media page, but in the dedicated video section of the site), though you may have to sign in to view them. Mark W
England is a shit lil country for its size it competes in all activitys to an international standard, (football, rugby, cricket) England are shit at the mainstream ones like the three you've listed, but they've had many successful athletes in other fields than what appears of Sky Sports... (Oh, and bear in mind they actually invented the 3 sports you've listed too, as far as I know?)

JIX
Dont be so stupid Mark.We won the rugby world cup not long ago, we have the best football league in the world and I dont really care about cricket. We are quite a rich country aswell, so riders probally have access to cameras and the internet, so people are not so lucky. petit_pablo
The english riding style is very much all about power moves and how big you can go at the moment. many video's and alot of good street riders pushes everyone to try that little harder.I personally think the french riders are up there with the best we can offer. Ollie Histon
I wouldn't say we we're all the best riders, just look at all the european people like Hermance e.t.c I reckon theres just a lot more english riders really.

I think the 'cocksure' attitude of many British people has influenced the way we ride trials or play any other sports, we egg each other on. Greetings
I wouldn't say we we're all the best riders, just look at all the european people like Hermance e.t.c I reckon theres just a lot more english riders really.Thats why I mentioned urban trials. Obviously most of the top UCI and BTIU riders are from spain and france. It's just that competition trials is so boring to watch, so is natural riding. Its great fun when your on the rocks though
Trials Dave
i think one brit who deserves a hell of a lot more credit than he gets is Dougie Lampkin, yes moto trials i know, but still he has got some indoor and outdoor world championships under his belt. Krisboats
Thats exactly how i feel, even a two minute natural vid will more often than not bore me shitless. However i love riding on rocks and logs and things so much more. I don't mind watching other people ride on rocks though, as in if i'm physically right next to them. Natural vids just don't cut it for me.I really like riding street as well though, and i ride street a lot more than anything else. I reckon another thing that helps people progress is this forum as well, despite the fact it's been overlooked by everyone who's replied so far. Everybody has somewhere they can ask other people who know what they're talking about (most of the time anyway) for help. It is also a great way to show off pictures of yourslef riding to people who are interested and again it brings out a competitive edge with everyone. Theres also the video "leagues" as i like to call them. Theres always the new people who first start riding and see all the videos of other people goin huge, they think "i know i'll make a video of myself" but people often slate these vids (first level of the video league). Then after they've been slated they keep riding more and more and produce another video when their skils ahve increased a lot since they first got slated (second level of video league). Then theres always the top riders (third level) who keep pushing the second level riders to make better videos and it goes round in a giant circle of everyone wanting to improve.and we have trains that go to pretty much everywhere so it is easy for us to decide to meet up and ride, and the u.k. isn't very big either so it doesn't take as long as it would do in other countries. Greetings
So basically it all revolves arround videos? Thats what I thought but it's difficult for an outsider to judge, because one doesn't get the chance to see the real stuff. Are many of you folks from towns or villages where you have to ride alone? It's a bit like the trials big brother, you give another person the chance to see your skills, and then whach what their is like. Hope this makes sense Edited January 4, 2006 by Inur
Mark W
Dont be so stupid Mark.We won the rugby world cup not long ago, we have the best football league in the world and I dont really care about cricket. We are quite a rich country aswell, so riders probally have access to cameras and the internet, so people are not so lucky. Since the Rugby World Cup, England appear to have been consistently shit (e.g. Six Nations, etc.). Haven't exactly been setting the world alight since then on the rugby pitch internationally at all. In cricket they finally got The Ashes back, so I'll give you that one. Internationally again, England as a team seem to let everyone down on a regular 2-year cycle in the football world. I'm sure the Italians might have something to say about "best football league" too, maybe? All I was drawing attention to was simply that people always overlook our other sports which we do well in. Like Sports Personality of the Year - they snub world champions in their respective sports every year just to give the sport to some mindless twat who didn't win something, yet again. Can't remember who won this year, but a few years back when Carl Fogarty went on after winning yet another world title (think it was either #4 or 5) he got told "Oh well, maybe if you win it again next year"...The fact that a lot of English riders release quite a lot of videos probably helps too. If you remember those German guys who released that video of a bunch of mod riders doing some kinda tour around Germany (braushchsomething, I think they were called?), they blew everyone away with the size of the moves they were doing, but they're not in the trials public eye much so they're quickly forgotten, which sucks. MesaMan
I'll do you a vid if you want to change your opinion on how good all us British dudes are Liverpool's got a great trials scene, even though not many come out to play in the cold, pussies. Swize
Since the Rugby World Cup, England appear to have been consistently shit (e.g. Six Nations, etc.). Haven't exactly been setting the world alight since then on the rugby pitch internationally at all. That has a huge amount to do with the team. After the world cup something like 4-5 player retired and many have been injured since. The players that retired whernt tag allongs to be fair they where a extreemly strong part of the team! Now when I watch a game of rugby I see maby 1/4 if that of the same team that played in the cup if that.Back to the topic though..People like Boon don't go big doing huge sidehops and drop gaps but as said his vids are loved by everyone! I think videos are a key part to why people push them selfs so much. But also another key part is that most the riders are friends. So they there mates make them push themselfs to do things they have not yet done and work their way up untill they are going big.It does help that England has some of the best street and natural place to ride! Greetings
We see lots from sponsored riders. All these Zoo Videos were popular arround the world because it was quite a well known brand, and they could be downloaded via a easy to find link. Echo Videos as well. Would we ever have heard about Lee Shi Ming or Yao Zhi if not for Deng? TRA's first videos where also Koxx/Echo promoting videos. But the Germans (from the Bra...blabla video) don't produce videos to promote the company whose bike they're using, but to show some good riding. And therefor they're easily forgotten about.
