Yeh sonds like a good plan for the money.

They aren't soo bad to ride, Akrigg sure did some sweet stuff on his. As a beginner it will be a while before it would snap on you, and by that time you will probably want to move on anyway :)

I also started on a shogun gatecrasher and that frame was so bad for trials. As soon as i got my base frame i was riding better straight away. Go for a trials specific frame, it will make a load of difference. Once kitted out though the shogun is really quite a nice jump bike, well thats what mines used for now.

The only thing i would suggest is try to go for a longer lasting frame to start off with. Have a look in the for sale/wanted section theres usually a second hand base ta26 goin for around £100 in there or you could go for something like a t-rex which should be around the same price.

The only reason i say this is because for a little more than £60 you can get a frame that will last a hell of a lot longer.

mine was a claud butler gatecrasher. but prob as bad. The reviews dont say the frames that weak ?. im sure it will last for a while ne ways. i cant backhop properly yet so ill only be doign small 2-3 ft drops wen i do get hang of it.

claud butler make shogun bikes, its like echo and zoo. same company.

but yeah the gatecrasher is a tough frame, but it will not be of any help to you for backhopping as it has such low chainstays and a negative bb rise.

Believe everyone when we say that the t-raptor will snap, theres a kid in syston (where i live) who has one and he can't bunnyhop any higher than about 4 bricks but his went snap right behind his bottom bracket on the right hand chainstay. i wouldn't even say he's a heavy rider either. for some reason he turned into the stereotypical chav and only uses it for doing wheelies now, in between having fights with other chavs.:D

i thought low chainstays were good ? or is that short?.

Well if it snaps it snap for £60 was a good deal so long as it gets me backhopping and pedalkicking with maybe afew small drops and as for that kid near you it was probably his technique look at skateboards there strong but you land wrong and even the strongest of them wil snap clean in half.

Short. Low chainstays suck.

You're right, £60 is only £60 and it won't matter too much if it snaps, but you could get something better I reckon. A Base TA26 will be 10x better than a T-Raptor and not much more expensive. Or maybe you could look at a second-hand old Levelboss. They will most likely be a bit more expensive (more like £100) but will not ever snap. Which makes £60 for a frame that will snap seem pretty expensive.

yeah when you put it like that i guess your on to something. My current skill level wont snap it though and shudnt do for a while so long as it can satnd up to 2-3 ft drops when i eventually manage to start doign drops itll be fine and ive already bought it so as long as it supirior to my CB gatecrasher ill be happy.

I have zero to no control on my backwheel prob as much my technique as the frame i guess. A video of backhops would be appreciated by as well as other "newbies" or crap riders
