PaRtZ
OK Im fed up with my pc crashing during transfers over MSN and bascially I was wondering how easy would it be to use bit torrent to allow my mates to gain the footage which Ive taken.I have a very limited knowledge of how it works normally, All I know its a p2p program which sends mini pieces of data to a pc which 'coincidently' make a file at the end of the 'download'So can someone tell me the steps I would have to take in order to share my footage pleasethanks
Siders77
Why not upload it to Eengoedidee or Tv.isg? Or am I getting the wrong end of the stick?
deanie-b
Right, If you dowload a file sharing program, such as Bearshare, And your friends have the same programme, If they search for the exact filename in their bearshare, It should recognise thats its in yours, and let them download it.www.bearshare.com
Sam Nichols
Or even easier you could use IP addresses and then you can dl anyfile from each others shared folder easily.
Tomm
Use FTP
tomturd
Or set up an FTP server on your PC so your mates can log in and download your stuff.Or get DC++ and make your own hub and get your mates to log into the same one..Or use gmail (as long as the file you want to send isnt over 10mb (split it using win rar if you need to) and email it to them (this way you can email it to more than 1 person at a time too)
Sam Nichols
to be honest it doesn't sound to me like he's gonna know how to set up an ftp... and his mates might struggle, surely a p2p is easier?
Barbra
Use FTP Yep thats your easiest option, i'm sure there was a topic on this somewhere about how to use it and stuff, not quite sure though.

It's slow and I doubt it will even work. FTP really isn't that hard and it will be worth it.

Sam Nichols
Ok fair enough, I stand corrected I just seem to remember kazaa having a way of saving your favourite hosts and browsing them etc. I may be wrong though. I presume new p2p programmes will have this too?
poopipe
anything p2p is evil shite that knackers all your security and installs nasty stinking adware all over your machine. bittorrent isn't p2p and therefore isnt evil shite. basically what you do is....package your file up using one of the various free torrent proggies, make a tracker and put a link to it somewhere you're mates can get to. I only did it once and that was bloody ages ago so i cant remember any details at all but if you google about you should be able to find everything you need
