Ok To Solve Cross Threaded Magura Threads

I know this is mostly me moaning because it seems im number 1 in the world for cross threading, BUT instead of putting all the strain of a hydraulic brake into 2 little cubes with a thread inside them, why don't bike manufacturers just drill a hole straight through the frame and have a good old nut and bolt system?

I know the first answer will be because it will destroy a frame, but make the hole wider at one end so that the nut can fit inside the seat stay?

Anyway discuss, not argue :P

Because its more effort for them problie more expensive and make the frame weeker ?

Sam

I can't see drilling being more expensive than welding aluminium to be honest, but you're probably right about the weak bit....

Or maybe you could make the cubes readily replaceable? Anyway im off to helicoil my stripped one:-

It think it would probably cause more problems (Y) Like then you have a hole going through the frame that would probably prone to cracking. And on alot of mods it would be a bugger to get there to tighten and loosen the bolts ect. It would be a good idea maybe if you could brace the area to stop cracks (Y)

it is actually a good idea, a longer bolt would make it unbelievably stronger, as alot of ali frames have got just 3/4 turns in the block, leaving less than enough to helicoil when it all goes tits up.

different matter in steel, but partz is onto a v good idea, bit fiddly with bolts and all, but would be fixed with a bit of glue
