How are you going to manage building the wheels? I will build them for £50 quid a pair. (Proper 10 hour job). LEON
So just to double check....For the rear big 'un 36hole 3 cross i'll need 213's each side? Does seem short,50MM off each spoke compared to a mono? I can build them fne, i just f**king hate doing it If all goes well how would you like your £3.61?Leon
totaltrials
I'm not totally sure about this as I have never built a big un, but you may have to build it 2 cross as the flages are too big for 3 cross, but the spoke holes are different, so it may work, so just incase make sure before you build it.Phil. LEON
Good point, they are 2 cross (each spoke only crosses 2 others) I measured end to end of the spokes on the wheel, they appear to be around 255, though the wheel is fully built while i measured, would it be the same lengths each side? I hate this f**king wheel Leon
LEON
f**kI'm blindIt's 3 crossI've worked out a rough length of 255-257 ishBut does anyone know if i need different lengths both sides?Leon

dave85
Using Hope's calculator, ERD of 547 as given on tartybikes, for 36 hole 3 cross i get 256 and 259. The calc also threw this up:Big'un notesHere are some notes based on my experiences building Big'Uns. Spoke lengthsOn each side there is an inner and outer spoke hole diameter. This does not effect the spoke length, so the spoke lengths for a given side of the hub are the same. Note that as with normal hubs there is a different spoke length for left and right side.LacingI find it easier to lace one complete side at a time. Start with the spokes in the outer circle of spoke holes. On the rear drive side you may find it easier to place the spokes through the hub by removing the freehub body.--Roger Musson
LEON
Excellent, so do you reckon 257 ish would be good all round?Leon
