Ollie Histon
These days all that seems to be happening is uci street trials, i think there is now like 1 or 2 street heads knocking about when i go out riding, compared to like 20 "comp chomps". To be honest personally i love UCI stuff, but i also love the beauty of manuals, bunnyhops e.t.c. o next time your out riding, chuk in a street move for the likes of holroyd and tounge. adamtrials
i would personally say that street style is increasing, especially with 24 inch bikesbecoming more popular and available. and as has already been pointed out in other topics,as the standard of riding has become so high and physical boundarys nearly reached riders aregoing to have to start finding different riding styles to stand out from the rest.i like manuals
Trials Dave
hey. i must agree. its all hopping all over the place on the back wheel, straight lifts, hooks and other stuff like that. i remember when i did a manual to sidehop. people were amazed even though it isnt that special. i think that the street style does just add style points to whatever you are doing. watch 'toxicity' or 'otherside' to see a really good street video. i agree. BRING BACK 'PROPA' STREET MOVES.

I think even somebody like tunni or stan shaw should throw in a streetier style to some of his moves just to give a more interesting and exciting edge to their videos/riding. I also like manuals. ppp
Street riding is ace, challenging, but ace. The only bad thing is when your told you cant ride this really ace area, because in the past when i've been out riding, i've found something that woud be ace to ride, but then there always is someone to spoil our fun, thats the main problem. Yeh UCI's r great to, just not quite as challenging.
wayneone
Get on to google and search "Phil Feeney" Download his vid "the fith edit" a absolutley super street rider!
MikeCottTrials
i personally think that lots of riders simply ride pure trials for a while just to pick up the skills and i reckon after that youll find some trying to take a step back and adapt to street using there trials moves. obviously youll also get those that always ride trials and never change
petit_pablo
I wouldnt say its dying but with the variations of bikes now, quite often you have to make the choice which style you intend to ride.I used to ride a heavy tools frame which i found easy to manual, bunnyhop etc due to it being a short frame. Ive moved onto a longer pitbull frame as i prefer doing things on the back wheel which was trickier on a short bike. Ive since found bunnyhops, manuals and other "streetier" moves to be much more effort.

clockwork
WHAT A GOOD TOPICi would say that the 'streetier' style has dyed out as far as the likes of the old skool ridersLenosky, Ashton, Lance Trappe, Holroyd, Leech where they rode pure trials kinda but because alot of them lived in/near towns/citys they developed style of riding which was fresh from the comp scene and had a seasoning of bmx(not much though).IT WAS ABOUT TRIALS LINES bear in mind that the street/hardtail/aaron chase stylee had not realy been done. Nowadays there is still a street style(i myself am a purveyor of this style as any one who has rode with me will probably tell you)but it is a different type of street syle compared to what was happenig in the late 90sbecause trials as a sport has gone forward and people are now doing moves that were probably not phisically possible then, and now due to the geometry revolution in frames it is developing its own style(uci/long low and silver) and it is not realy the done thing to do a rolling bunnyhop gap to manuel on one of these bike. That said the stuff they can do: dropgaps big enough to kill your self on is emmense and has got to be good for the sport in some way.So the street style that we have now is alot more bmxy which is o.k. but is and will be in the shadows of both bmx and the long low silver style until people really develop it! So now i am very intrested to see what Mr Shrewsbury and Co have up their sleves for 06.So all in all i dont think the street style has died it has just shed its retro skin and is now growing! mtbjosh
i dont think it will ever die as that is where most people start trials, i know a few people who just ride street as they either have never done natural or cannot do it. But the popularity of street frame/short wheelbase style ridng is dying. Everybody(almost) wants or has got a longer frame, myslef included but i will never get tired of street.
