Tom Booth
Fsa dh platinum pro seems the bb of choice at the minute...or a truvativ gigapipe according to others CheersTom
Waynio
an FSA Platinum DH is a good one boon. safe and strong option if you like. there about £35 ish quiddas.you could possibly get away with using a normal platinum at around £30 ish quiddas but you would need a 118 axle.Waynio.........................there is also the new range of SKF we have got some in at work very high quality bearings and extremly nice looking but they are expensive for a reason. the quality is all sooooooooo high. Swize
Don't think either is better than either really. But I do no that some good bb's are truvativ gigapipe and FSA Platinum pro DH, I don't no what sizes they come in you will have to check, but that should help you allong the way.Sam Edited December 30, 2005 by samthebiker
ScotchDave
If you have the middies already, but I know there were some problems with isis middies, something about the tapering in the splines fecking up.
Tomm
If you have the middies already, but I know there were some problems with isis middies, something about the tapering in the splines fecking up. That was like 4 years ago when the ISIS burns first came out. They fixed it in within about a month... Having said that, I've used both ISIS and normal 'burns and I couldn't tell you the difference. I would probably just buy square taper given the price difference. Annnyway, back on with the topic, the FSAs are nice and they're all 73mm these days, so you can't go wrong there. I had a Platinum DH and it was fine, not much more to tell really...
Waynio
Truvativ gigapipe b/b's are pants. the bearings just arent strong enuff. they collapse. but depends what you like iv had most isis b/b either to try or put to full go through and i wouldnt go any further than a platinum dh. i used a try-all b/b for a few weeks and that was spot on too. but then i sold the bike, going to put another one back in though as the try-all b/b is light and strong.Waynio......................... They were fine for 3 years.I then got a new bb for a new 24 inch frame and they didn't fit.I had to buy new arms from Middleburn at a discount price. The taper was knackered.. I always had them done up tight.Raceface evolve DH £ 40Raceface xs signature £ 80Isis is nice. But not without faults/floors.Happy Riding

Gandalf the Yellow
yea i bet its a 24 thing, i had mine platinum for about 4 months now, but i've been heavy on it and its sounds like its gonna shred....avoid gigapipes, ALL TRUVATIV BB's are cnutychoppers....they won't last more than 6 months (thats if you;re lucky+smooooooth)anyway the boon, can't help you... as im looking for a good bb for the money too...a friend of mine had told me that RACEFACE ones are good, but my giant don't fit them for some reason its got a slightly smaller radius at the very centre of the BB shell... AdamR28
Which one did you break Matt? Theres a big difference between the Platinum Pro ISIS and the Platinum Pro DH ISIS...1.5 weeks is still pretty impressive though, hehe. Brian Bleech
Just get some thing that has DH at the end of it dude - the platinum is designed with a pussified lightweight axle. Try and get a platinum pro DH or a gigapipe (my bearings are pretty dead, but the axle is strong). But you do need a gay tool for tha giga (or maybe a hammer and screwdriver) <<< my mechanics is as harsh as my riding the party was awesome, didn't get take away though as there was food at the party!!!!
