Tomm
Right, I've got some Ashton forks here and I want to know if they are the old batch with the messed up disc mount, of if they're the newer ones that will take a disc. I don't really want to mess about with the funny-sized discs either, that just seems like a lot of hassle. Is there any way of knowing or measuring? Or do I just have to try it? quick_spider
I'm not sure on the distances of the mounts from the axle, but if you're running an Avid, you should be able to add a couple of washers onto the postmount adapter to make it an IS fit. (IIRC the screwed up ashtons needed a disc 2-3mm smaller)Jon

You, sir, are ace So I need to add 1-1.5 mm extra spacers between the adapter and the caliper? Have you actually tried that? Looking at it, that seems as though it would work, but has anyone got any practical experience of it? Also would I need longer bolts to make sure there's enough thread in the adapter? quick_spider
I did it to make a rear 160mm avid into a front 185mm. I didn't look at longer bolts as there was plenty of thread already. Best check though.Let us know how the juicy goes - I'm pretty tempted by one myself if I can't fix the Louise Tic's sending me...Jon
Tomm
So... You changed the rotor, but the disc was still 5mm too big, so you spaced it out that little bit? Sounds good to me Cheers Jon

Tomm
Wicked. Cheers everyone. Hopefully I'll get it all sorted and have a sexy awesome disc again
Prawny Baby
i did it years ago to make a 160 front work on a 160 rear! so i had to increaise it by 20mm! i used longer bolts and a few sets of extra v brake pad spacers, and it worked FINE tomm, so if i can do it for a 20mm bigger disc, im sure u can sort it for a 2mm smaller discmount....
