Hi,

I have had a rear magura julie for five months and it still wont bite properly. Me and my friend have tried all sorts to stop it slipping but nothing has worked. So far we have tried boiling water, Disk brake cleaner, wet and dry paper and dragging it to get it hot. None of these tecniuques have worked so we are now asking you guys! Any help would be appreciated because I am sick of falling on my arse!

Cheers,

Andrew

by the sounds of it you have tried.'too much' and it has glazed the pads over... my advice is to pop a set of new pads in and clean the disc brake rotor with hot soapy water......... then check calliper for correct alignment..... facing mounts is always a good idea.....

the next step is to bed in the rotor and pads the best way in which i have found to do this is to ride the bike normally, dont pour water over it or muddy water etc i have always found this makes it worse.....

dont get the pads red hot either , this will just make them glaze over again...

riding the brake normally on and off etc will bed the disc in sufficiently

i hope this helps you

regards ash

also a thought, there may be a chance that the seals are leaking at the back of the pads or one of the connection ines may be lose, check there is no oil that is going to contaminate the pads and rotor

a fresh bleed always goes down a treat aswell

(Y) try grindin you disc or putting brake cleaner on it and setting it on fire(do it ouside not in garage) or try some new pads as they mite have oil on them or summing hope this helps tom

Oh My God, what have you been taking, grinding the disc will ruin it, i got an ever so "slight" scratch on my front one and my pad was gone in 2 days. setting fire to it will probably leave an oil residue from the gas, or if you super heat it, it'll expand, then shink, crack and warp. Silly boy! Also there isnt a "team" onza t-pro...gees...

!aNT!

Or you could just try and get your bike shop to give you a new one cus its not worked for so long, thats if you bought it from there and still have a reciept!

he could get the disc surface ground that might help actually, it will eliminate all the buckles (highspots in the disc) and the disc would be like the day you bought but probably better lol almost mirrored if its done properly.

still new brake pads would help a treat mate its soulds like you have got oil or grease on the pads, did you clean the rotor with meths or anything to check there wasnt any grease on it from when it came from the factory. get the pads out of the caliper, sit them in a pan of water, add fairy liquid to the water, and boil them for about 2 mins. then take them out and rub the braking face down with wet and dry prefably on a serface plate to make sure there flat, then if the brake is better the pads are contaminated, so you know to get new pads.

hope this helps.

Thanks tom, but i have tried all of those ideas you mentioned there. I got the brake second hand off ebay so there is no warentee.

errrmmm ok then, does the lever have a good pull to it or does it feel spongey?

check to make sure the pistons are moving freely.

have you tried new pads?

ummm

i dont know what else to do really, try to work to a trial and error theory, cheak the whole system for leaks or anything, pads, pistons, disc.

have you tried another disc on the brake that you are running? or another brake on the disc that you are running?

Tom
