id probably upgrade the frame (Y)

if you dont have much money , go for something like an'05 zoo!onza t-pro or a zona.

steve.

Hi steve,

I have got about £250 to spend at the moment but am hopefully getting a part-time job soon.

i was thinking about the new yaabaa frame, so if anybody has any information on that, like quality and how it rides would be very much appreciated.

How much is the 05 zoo, it is mod that i would like to stick with.

Thanks Allen (Y)

Definitely change the frame. The T-Bird is really a pretty awful bike IMO. Well, it's not bad for the money, but it makes everything three times harder than it ought to be. So unless you can sell the bike, change the frame. Why not save some money by shopping second hand?

The Python is alright I think, but the Zona Zip is £179 (?) and it's basically the same frame. Well, in terms of how much it costs to make it's the same frame, slightly different geometry and stuff but it's your average long, low, silver bike. Some people prefer the Zip, some people prefer the Python. I don't think there's much in it. If I was on a budget I know which one I would go for.

Bear in mind though that most frames take a 19" back wheel, and the older T-Birds have a 20" back wheel, so you would need to change that too. I *think* the '04 'Bird has a 19" wheel (so you're ok) but I would check (Y)

OK, I've got the price wrong - It's £199 now, BUT that includes a free headset, bottom bracket and 4 bolt mounts. Plenty of info there too :)

In my opinion, you need to upgrade the parts much more than you do the frame. I'd say some decent brake pads if you have already, Onza carbon bars and a T-Master stem, maybe an eno freewheel with some decent cranks, like tensiles... (Y)

Cheers,

Joe.

Hi,

Would i be better upgrading the onza with my £250 or saving for longer and get a new frame and if so which frame?

Either way which parts should i buy for the onza and makes and how much do they cost? or which parts should i buy when and if i got a new frame, makes and how much do they cost would be very helpful?

Thanks for the help so far and thanks in advance for this question (Y)

How much do you think i would get for the t-bird frame and bottom bracket and bashgaurd?

maybe £20........

Theres a second hand t-pro frame in the for sale section for £40

You could buy that then upgrade some other parts on your bike

I totally agree with that, not sure about the £20 though i don't know much about t-birds so maybe,if you buy that t-pro,they are good frames so then you still have like £210 to play with, and you could buy a echo wheelset (the ones with silver dips in them) for like £130 from tartybikes and still have £80 to buy something else.maybe an Eno (Y)

Hope this helps mate

Thanks for that mate, but i don't like any onza any more.

I really like the look of the gu typhoon and the zoo python.

Thanks Allen

The yaabaa frame is bascially a t-pro anyways B)

I think a cheap frame like a Onza T-pro with good components will ride better than a GU or ZOO with your old T-bird components but its up to you what you want first really

You said your getting a part time job so if that pays well and you havent got anything else to spend your money on youll be able to afford it all in time :)
