Greetings
and what are the benefits of running it on water? doesnt oil lubricate the pistons better? thats crazy
zoo
HelloDoesn't the water freezing cause your hosing to burst? and yes i believe oil is better as i've heard of water destroying the seals inside the brake. zoo
mat hudson
no, it just pushes the pistons out. this may lock up your brake.

Ali C
and what are the benefits of running it on water? doesnt oil lubricate the pistons better? thats crazy the main thing is it makes the brake feel 100% better, as for lubing the pistons....I have never had a problem, my maggie has had water in for 4 years, nothing has gone wrong with it once. tank_rider
I run less than 10% antifreeze in mine and it's never frozen on me yet, also the antifreeze acts as a slight lubricant to prevents andy wear to the seals. I've had my magura running on water from the day i got it 2nd hand 3 years ago and its still running perfectly well with no leaks.i imagine if you have your pads close enough to the rim it could crack the frame with the amount of pressure on the welds and it being like that for 6-7 hours non-stop. Just a thought, bet you're all paranoid and checking your mounts now lol The time over which the pressure is applied will be insignificant in terms of causing damage, frames fail through brake flex due to the fatigue of the cycling of the force and the stress it causes. A single continued applied load will not cause any more problems than a single application.

tank_rider
a very low viscocity oil would be best, something a little thicker than pure WD40 (tried by a couple of mates who has slight leakage problems if i remember correctly), i'd try and search for something but can't actually remember how thick magura oil is now as i haven't used it in so long, and water with anti-freeze works perfectly for me
bhups
Hello,I just warped my brake hosing in tissue---- i no it may look stupid but it sure does work aswell.Bhups.
Swize
no it wont.If you think about it, if you use the correct amount of anti-freeze mixed with water, then the anti-freeze becomes nuetral, and it wont even harm the seals or anything (most of the water bottles n pipes on a car are plastic or rubber...)Baby oil is menna be fooking awsome, i might try it, but my water bleed it VERY awsome, it hasnt froze at all, and its been through 2 winters (hasnt got any anti-freeze in ether )From what he said "Fill it up with anti freeze" it sounded as if he want to bleed the whole brake with it, not a water and anti freeze mix.Are we talking neutral as in 7 on the ph scale? As ime pretti sure adding water to a soloution can't neutralise it, it can dilute it but not make it neutral?Sam

Dave W
Use either Dot 4 or 5.1 Car brake fluid, Only a couple of quid from halfords! I think it works better than magura fluid and it wont freeze! Cheers,Dave
wayn3
Mine did today, but i put anti-freeze obviously not enough
ned1
i have just started to bleed my brakes with water and the brakes seem to feel better with a water bleed than they do with an oil bleed and if u keep pumping ur brake whilst ur not ridin, unless ur inside it wont freeze.
