no, it just pushes the pistons out. this may lock up your brake.

Thanks,It happened to a friend of mine's bike,he has a 05 onza t-mag and his froze so he pulled the lever as hard as he could and snapped his lever off,not very sensible at all :S that was an 05 magura

and what are the benefits of running it on water? doesnt oil lubricate the pistons better? thats crazy

the main thing is it makes the brake feel 100% better, as for lubing the pistons....I have never had a problem, my maggie has had water in for 4 years, nothing has gone wrong with it once.

I run less than 10% antifreeze in mine and it's never frozen on me yet, also the antifreeze acts as a slight lubricant to prevents andy wear to the seals. I've had my magura running on water from the day i got it 2nd hand 3 years ago and its still running perfectly well with no leaks.

i imagine if you have your pads close enough to the rim it could crack the frame with the amount of pressure on the welds and it being like that for 6-7 hours non-stop. Just a thought, bet you're all paranoid and checking your mounts now lol ^_^

The time over which the pressure is applied will be insignificant in terms of causing damage, frames fail through brake flex due to the fatigue of the cycling of the force and the stress it causes. A single continued applied load will not cause any more problems than a single application.

a very low viscocity oil would be best, something a little thicker than pure WD40 (tried by a couple of mates who has slight leakage problems if i remember correctly), i'd try and search for something but can't actually remember how thick magura oil is now as i haven't used it in so long, and water with anti-freeze works perfectly for me :)

no it wont.

If you think about it, if you use the correct amount of anti-freeze mixed with water, then the anti-freeze becomes nuetral, and it wont even harm the seals or anything (most of the water bottles n pipes on a car are plastic or rubber...)

Baby oil is menna be fooking awsome, i might try it, but my water bleed it VERY awsome, it hasnt froze at all, and its been through 2 winters :) (hasnt got any anti-freeze in ether :) )

From what he said "Fill it up with anti freeze" it sounded as if he want to bleed the whole brake with it, not a water and anti freeze mix.

Are we talking neutral as in 7 on the ph scale? As ime pretti sure adding water to a soloution can't neutralise it, it can dilute it but not make it neutral?

using dot fluids in your magura brake will corrode your seals, dont use it!!!

Never heard that before!

But then again so will using water and Anti-freeze, its just the risk you take to get a better brake and Nicer feel!

I'm using it and have had no problems so far!
