Jonas
Just got me a new variable speed grinder: 2.800 - 11.000 rpm (Disc size: 125mm. Model: Skil 9385). Happy days! I'm going to do some experimenting with grinder speeds to see what works best, but thought I would ask you guys for a good headstart. Setup: Pads are Koxx Browns and the rim is a DX32 (might try the new Echo drilled one next time). Grinder discs are generic metal gutting discs and I will be using fresh (not rounded/worn) discs. (Not running a booster as of now but will get a Echo control when the shop restocks them in late Januari. Also, if it matters, the frame is a Levelboss and the brake is a 2005 HS33.) That should be EVERYTHING that is relevant about the bike i think... Thanks!
Will Arnold
i think mine runs at 11,000 and it seems to work well but maybe less is better, i really haven't experimented. not much use am i
benno
I would have thought slower speeds would work better, as they'd give you a rougher finished than higher speeds. Try it out and see I guess.
Hobnobs
There was a thread before somewhere, try the search, i think we as a whole decided slower was better
Jonas
i think mine runs at 11,000 and it seems to work well but maybe less is better, i really haven't experimented. not much use am i Yeah, I borrowed a 11krpm from my father and sure it works. But I've heard that a lower speed might be better - can't remember the details though. After all the "normal" 11krpm grinders weren't really designed with "optimum grinding speed" in mind. Probably I will get the extra power I crave when the booster arrives. But even if it will work fine then, even better is always nice. You can't get enough of the good stuff. Hobnobs + benno: I found this topic (that's where I got the idea to try from) but it's not very specific, might be that no one has really experimented much? Of course I will try for myself, but as I stated a head start is always nice. EDIT1: Hobnobs and benno where to fast for me. EDIT2: Clicky didn't work. SQuiT-man
I think mine is 11,000 rpm, but I'd say use a slightly thinner dics (but not the ultra-thin ones, they dont work well for me!), as they dont round off so badly on the edges, and stay a bit sharper. Then perhaps try something like 8 or 9,000 rpm? Try it and see what works best for you, especially if you got an old rim kicking about somewhere!
