trials_pimp
Ok, Today I tried to instal Battlefeidl 2.Everything instaled fine, but when I went to play it, it said there was a file Missing, somethig to do with Direct X.So a friend of mine got that sorted, and we thought it would all be good. But now, you go to run the game, it comes up with the Battlefeidl 2 Logo, and switched to a black screen, where it stays there and does nothing. If you Tab out, there is another window that says error, But it wont let you open it, and it says nothing about the nature of the error. If you click on it all you get is move and close, and whan you try and move it, nothing come up and it closes. So My friend has spent the last 4 hours attempting to correct this. And nothing, the game just wont run...My computer is well over the minimun requirements for the game.We have just updated every driver for everything on the computer to the latest level. He ran some diagnostics and everything came up fine. But we cant figure out why the game wont load, and what the error is.We have checked for spywhere ect, run scan disc, checked for any errors, tried another game disc iof the same game and reinstaled it.and nothing. Please, can someone help

Smo™
Did you install DirectX 9.0c?
Tomm
That system would probably struggle a bit with BF2, but there's no reason to suggest that it should crash. Try searching some BF2 forums for similar issues?

tank_rider
I've heard nothing but problems from 9600PRO's. What other games do you use with it? Also what is the exact model of the card, brand and amount of memory. One of the guys i live with still can't get his brother 9600PRO to play any modern games, and it sounds like you may have the same problem (they crash when loading), he has tried all sorts of drivers (latest, really old, modded etc) and still can't fix it. It might be worth seeing if you can borrow a mates gfx card (something other than a 9600PRO, preferably better) and try that, if it does work send that 9600 back. br3n
glad you fixed it, word of warning to you, later cards require 500watt psu otherwise they tend to crash in games, my 9800xt did anyway
Tomm
My 9800XT works fine on my Shuttle's 240W PSU . But Shuttle PSUs are known for being decent, and a decent 240W PSU is in most cases better than a rubbish 500W one. But yes, as you upgrade and stuff you may need a more powerful PSU. Generally anything below £40 for a power supply no matter what the claimed wattage and you could run into problems. However that won't be the case with the 9600PRO as i don't think they even require an additional power connector, so they can't be that power hungry.
