PaRtZ
OK At the moment im running a smooth rim + tar + worn down koolstops however for Xmas I got a dremel multi tool which means I am now happy to grind my rim whenever needed (don't have to take tyre off, wheel out etc.) However koolstops + grind and no tar = one sh!te brakeSo Im going to get some plazzys, but my worn down koolstops are already quite close to the rim, with the caliper as far away as possible. So im thinking that if i get some plazzys, there's going to be even more pad on them, meaning its going to rubWill Arnold told me that if I grind the pad then it turns into a much harder compound so im reluctant to try thatso my question is: can anyone tell me how long the pad is on brand new CRM's please? Dr. Nick Riviera
about 6/7mm , they will last forever if you set them up good n properor toe them in and watch the destruction
Bionic Balls
you mean how fat?i remember it being 5-6mm ish (wait for some more posts )Grind it slowly and they'll be fine...the reason koolstops+grind=crap...is because you did it with a dremel...i tried that . You need the real deal a 6" metal cutting disc...however...the crms are waaay better than the koolstops anyways!adam
tipsy Jock
I wouldn't bother with Plazzies Matt, rains far too much in Wales for them Edited December 27, 2005 by tipsy Jock
pogonation
I think that if you grind them it heats them up and changes the compound slightly, so why not do what I have done: Good old hacksaw and emery cloth.. works a treat
Martin Grainger
i've got some plazzies, but i cant tell you how thick mine were because its worn a little. but im just wondering if its normal for it to wear down loads at the start because mine (plaz) and my mates (GU pads) wore down loads in the first hour with a light grind and will they last long with a grind because i have heard they do but i dont think they will from the days ride. Onza Kieron
My mate got some the other day and i was suprised by how little material was on them, i saw around 5mm, he runs them with a Koxx rim in a Toxsin 2.
Will Arnold
to be honest, koxx rims arent worth grinding. the grind will flatten off in a matter of hours you could hit two birds with one stone and get an onza ronnie rim (38mm wide) which grinds like a beast! and it would mean your brake will set up beautifully without and crm choperization i say go for it, but make sure u get a nice grind on the beast and it will be ace p.s. i know it wouldnt be keeping with the blue colour scheme though Edited December 28, 2005 by WILL ARNOLD

Jules
Yeah im guessing around 6-7mm, the fact that new pads may rub on a wide rim is the only thing that puts me off getting one, oh and money
