Joe_Elding
hi I've been looking around for a new bottom bracket and have decided on an FSA platinum pro thing. The only trouble it the widest axle length i can find it in is 122.5 and i want a 127 one preferably. The next option i saw was a 80mm BB shell on but with a 130mm Axle, if i used this would it be safe in my frame or would there be too much pressure on a part of a BB thats on the outside of the frame and thus strip my threads? obviously i will use the right spacers and so on.If your answer is no to all of this and that a 80mm shell would royally f**k up my frame then i am offering a dairy milk bar and a burger king discount voucher to anyone who can find me on in 73mm*127.5mm.Cheers lads
Ali C
go on wiggle, go to truvativ bbs and look for the giga pipe team dh bb, that comes in 128mm axle
Luke Drewery
This one?;GigapipeI use that bb on my t-rex with a 22t chainring. A tad heavy but very strong. Edited December 27, 2005 by scunnytrials
Joe_Elding
I've been advised against those by a few people, the bearings are supposedly too small and also i don't like the BB tool interface what about the new echo ones? They look alright has anyone used 'em yet?
CurtisRider
all isis bearings are too small though, thats why companies are producing external bbs nowand the bb tool interface-you dont like it that sounds pretty silly-its the same as the older xtr and middleburn spider interfaces and works well, infact i prefer it to the million spline system that most others use, as the tool seems to sit better and not slip out-but i dont think that should really put you off getting a certain bb-its not exactly a performance issuedont viz make some sort of bb (well a rebranded fsa thing?) Phatmike
The only bottom bracket I've used worth considering is the gigapipe. I've had mine for over 2 years, and it's still going strong, both axle and bearings.Buy one. Just noticed, on wiggle, haha. "ISIS has 9 splines", urr, no it doesn't! Mark W
Tartybikes do the FSA BBs in the length you want. I pluralized pretty much everything in that sentence and had to go back and sort it. Anyway, yeah, Tartybikes - woo. Other than that, there's the Gigapipe. Mine was never that nice, and the f**king BB tool shit annoyed the hell out of me, especially when the tabs all got mashed and torn 'cos NO standard tool can get over the end of the main body of the spindle to sit deeply in them.Gay^2.Anyway, Tartybikes - FSA Platinum Pro DH ISIS BB, 73x128 w/2.5mm spacer to make it a 68mm. Lovely. It's not on their website, so give Dave a call.
