stick with your vees!!

just get some heatsink pads and possibly grind your rim if you want more power....the brake will be just as good as a maggie, but you will save a lot of money!

if you do get a maggie, please please get an 04 model lever, the 05 ones really are the biggest pile of tripe ever to come from germany!

At 1st while you are learning stick with your vees you can always grind ur rim and get some heatsinkpads as Ali C said, but to be honsist you don't realy need a good brake till you start doing gaps ect.

But set up your vee brakes nicely and they really will work awsome!

I would say save so much money for 1 magura or pick one up off ebay and spend the rest on a new bar and stem as the onza ones weigh a ton it really does help your riding, well did me anyway.

You should get a magura for the rear because it is not necessery on the front unless you are going for big to nose moves. If you can try and get hold of an 04 rear magura because these are alot better than the 05 the only place that is still avalible to get them from is ebay if you really dont want the hassle of ebay etc. Go for a 05 from www.chainreactioncycles.com because i believe they are the cheapest place for them.I recommend that with the spare money from not buying a front brake you get some after market pads the best ones for this i think are ZOO! because they are a good all round pad for use on both smooth and grinded rims. Then if you still have some spare money after this i reccommend you get a bleed get for those split hoses that you get wuite alot as a beginner.

Hope ive helped

You could follow a few options here and save alot of your christmas money (Y)

You could keep your exsisting v brakes, And buy either heatsink or lazmmatic v brake pads for the rear.

Or you could buy just a rear hs-33 and keep the front vee brake, And buy some good pads for the front, Ive heard a few good things about kool stop v pads on the front?

The choice is your matey

save your money and a lot of stress and get an XT V-brake, mine is monstrous with a grind and decent pads, make sure you get a decent lever though. avid speed dial etc. i got fed up of the different pad business and internet ordering for the maggie pads. its your shot
