Ali C
emmensley tight!
Shaun H
Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugely tight, as Ali said.I had a cassete go on my FR bike from doing roll backs (I think ) and to tighten that I used a *massive* breaker bar with the tool. Had it been done like a fairy then it would probably have come undone at a much more inoppurtune time rather than when backpedaling whilst being towed by a mate on his ped

Tomm
Haha I always do mine finger tight with just the tool!? I've never actually had any problems haha. That's exactly what I was going to say. Otherwise they're a total bitch to get off. I don't think there's any real danger if it works loose a bit, it's not as important as, say, your crank bolts.

Onza Kieron
I run mine fingertight too, never done me any harm, evenwhen it did come off the cogs just moved a lil' bit and i was doing DH on the T-Rex so i don't think it needs to be too tight, as long as you make sure it's biteing on the lil' notches on the end of the cassette. Ingram
it is 40 N/m, Too tight, you wont get the bloody thing off again, or as people said, probily strip the thread, they dont need to be super super tight, like 5 foot long breaker bar. You'll know if its loose anyway.

Janson
i just give mine beans. has only come loose once, and that was when the stupid bikeshop didn't tighten it up, which was a fair while ago.. They're not hard to get off, just use a chain whip..
