Casette Lockrings

Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugely tight, as Ali said.

I had a cassete go on my FR bike from doing roll backs (I think  ) and to tighten that I used a *massive* breaker bar with the tool. Had it been done like a fairy then it would probably have come undone at a much more inoppurtune time rather than when backpedaling whilst being towed by a mate on his ped

Haha I always do mine finger tight with just the tool!?

I've never actually had any problems haha.

That's exactly what I was going to say. Otherwise they're a total bitch to get off. I don't think there's any real danger if it works loose a bit, it's not as important as, say, your crank bolts.

I run mine fingertight too, never done me any harm, evenwhen it did come off the cogs just moved a lil' bit and i was doing DH on the T-Rex so i don't think it needs to be too tight, as long as you make sure it's biteing on the lil' notches on the end of the cassette.

dont you think if the manufacturer puts a tightening torque on somehting it is there for a reason though........only my oppinion (i like to try and stick to official settings)

finger tight in my view is not tight enough it should be done up quite tight..........not always a need for a torque wrench just doing the lockring up tight will be sufficient
