I myself are in the same situation :( . I can have either:

onza "belly" bash £19 + echo cranks £55 + white industries fw £80 + onza fixed cog £10 = £164

or

exsisting middleburns + profile £165 + mutiny spokes £10 + wheelbuild £10 = 185

or

" " + echo 72ep tooth (when it comes out) £120 + mutiny spokes £10 + wheelbuild £10 = £140

and

ive decided to go for the second option, the profile etc, just because of their excellent reputation and reliability :o and the fact its christmas so money shouldnt be a problem  and the uber sound of a profile does come into it little :- so i say go with the profile :o

ENO's are easier to take off if you need to, a profile is built onto the wheel, so it's difficult if you were say going to sell it on.

They both have the same effective match points, even tought the ENO has more they'll feel the same. (Due to the gear ratio's)

Profiles are more expensive, but they are effectivly stronger on the back and feel much more possative.

Having a front freewheel can destroy your jeans aswell, a profile put the freewheeling decive on the back where it should be.

If you have the money go for the profile.

it depends what you like, I find that people with ffw cant ride peoples bikes who have a rear hub, and vice-versa because the power is coming from a different place, people just can't handle it. but which ever you get, eventually you will get used to it

How the duck can you feel that?

I've ridden friends FFW bikes fine, i couldn't feel any difference betwen my King and my mates ENO.

doesnt really matter what sound they make. eno's have 72 engagement points, profiles have 48.

eno's are freewheels and profiles are hubs.

whats your existing drivetrain setup?

Certanly do, but does running it on the back not make it feel like u have 72 ep at the cranks or something like that ?

Ive run bouth and i say profile.

The profile make a loud noise, like a clicking  but please don't tell me ur going to buy one of the other because it sounds better >_< .

Technically, if we're talking Engagement Points, an Eno is better, as it's got 72 rather than the Profile's 48, however front freewheel construction means that they aren't as reliable, strong or sturdy in feel.

If you've got they money. I'd get some nice long cranks, say 165, then a rear 12T profile hub, with an Onza or any 18T front cog on your cranks, then depending on what frame you have a bashring or not.

I've got a profile and I much prefer it to Eno's, but it's probably just because I'm used to it. They're quite cheap if you can pick one up second-hand like I did. About £110 for a full rear wheel built. Which isn't that much more than an Eno and you've got a spare.

Hope I helped.

It sounds strange i know, But you really can notice the power is coming froma different place, I myself would go Eno, BUT I would take the blue grease they give you out.

But the power isn't comming from a different place!

The only difference you should be able to feel is that on a FFS the pawles engage, then the chain tightens and your away. With a profile, the chain tightens first, then the pawles engage.

So i supose you could mean that.

Echo 72 ep is louder

The profile is louder.

I was ridong allong with two profile riders and my eno couldn't be heard. If you want volume, do what Bender does on futarama and get some clickady-clackers.

Like i said above, don't by the eno becuase it has more matchpoints, i does, but effectivly it has the same:

ENO = 72ep

Profile = 48ep

But, becuase the profile is on the back, you have to calculate the gear ratio into it.

To do that you have to divide the front cog by the back cog and times that buy the ep points.

18/12 = 1.5

1.5 x 48 = (You guessed it) 72.

So they feel the same engagement point wise.

Never heard of eno

'Eno' is a branch of 'White Industrys'. 'Eno' is the singe speed range of 'White Industrys', hence it being 'one' spelt backwards, eg. on gear.

Profile. Nothing more to be said. (Y)

this is getting old...again

its very simple if you already run FFW...

if you have 220 quid lying around get a profile built into a wheel, take your freewheel off and put a 12quid fixed cog on the cranks

if you have 85 quid lying around get an eno

same EPs , nothing will break if you look afer it.
