Olly C
Well I've finally got media connect working between my 360 and my PC with Windows XP SP2 and I can view pics and listen to music through it. BUT this is only possible with ZoneAlarm (free one) totally off, as soon as I turn it on it stops the music and stuff then doesn't allow you to read the folders etc. Im running the whole lot through a Router (non-wireless) so theres that to consider too. I need that port opening thing, or something, if someone could search up what to unlock how to do it and get back asap I'd much appreciate it, this thing is getting me so angry because I cant remeber how to do it and I cant remeber the site that said what things to do (Y) Cheers Olly
Tomm
Option 1: Ditch Zone Alarm - You don't really need it if you've got a router as well. Option 2: Change the preferences in Zone Alarm to allow the Media Connect program to run without being interupted. By the way, what is the Media Functioning of the X360 like anyway? Does it play everything (mpg, avi, divx, mov etc), or is it limited to Microsoft stuff only?

The Media Function can do loads ....if you have Windows Media Center on your PC but with just XP Home you can view photos and music (theres a big list of file types doesn't seems to be that limiting) So yea thats the stuff I need open, any ideas on how to do it? Tomm
If it works fine with ZoneAlarm off then you don't need to change anything in the router... Does it play videos?

I've got XP Service Pack 2 so no (Y) If you have Windows Media Center Edition then yes.
Olly C
Yay got it sorted! :- Just had to go to Zones in the Firewall setting and add the 360's IP Address, restarted and allowed the folders and jobs a good'un (Y)
