Thom
Ok I need a v brake booster and saw on the Heatsink site that they'll be releasing one. It says that it'll be released in november so any news on availability yet ?

Thom
anyone else ?? you think i can get away with running the 4 bolt booster on my v's ?? will that even work ? :S
CurtisRider
just get a xtr booster, they go for 25quid usually charel on the forum has 1 for sale, add him to msn :S as for using a 4 bolt on a v, they are a different spacing and so usually it wont work-also v boosters use a difference sized bolt to 4 bolt so you would have to drill the 4 bolt out to make it bigger..... just get an xtr, they are the best :)
Thom
Thanks paul but unfortunately I live all those miles away in Australia. I can get an RB v brake booster though, would that be alright ?

CurtisRider
ahh rity, i didnt notice that! well perhaps you can find a xtr in australia? im not writing off the heatsink, just xtrs are feckin good, and there are a few kickin about on ebay and stuff why do you need a booster anyway? generally i havent had the need to run a booster with my v brakes, if i do its just to make sure it is all stiff  try making you own! its far more fun
Thom
yeah I'll have a look around ebay and stuff because like you've said xtr is one of the best. I can feel a fair bit of flex in my brakes so thats why i thought i need a booster ? It could be just my pads and housing though, problem might go away when i get my heatsinks and linear slic's. I'll see how it goes i guess. Thanks for the replies, appreciate it!
CurtisRider
its probably the cable, linear slicks take away a huge amount of flex as they have such stiff housing get crv pads if you can, they are a notch above heatsinks-also i found heatsinks to be useless on a grind >_< im gonna give them another go on my new ceramic though, hopefully that will reveal some potential! Thom
you would think it would be easier to get CRV's in australia but the last time I checked they were still finalising the backings. Might be available now though but i thought I'd give the heatsinks a try. I'm using spanish fly's now and they're below average really, they make a ton of noise and they're beginning to crack. So what heatsinks were you using ? the white ones ? because thats what I'm getting, I would be running a smooth rim for now but might run a grind with my new rims. I'm pretty sure you know Felix, the smooth german rider, he seems to love them. So was it just lack of power for you ? and what pads are you using now? Mark W
anyone else ?? you think i can get away with running the 4 bolt booster on my v's ?? will that even work ? >_< No chance of that, unfortunately - V-brake bolts are M6 and 4-bolt Magura's are M5, so you'd have to drill it for a start, but also the 4-bolt mounts are further apart on the frame than V-brakes, so the booster would be spaced too far apart...
