REEEELAX!!!! is the main key, seriously cant stress to you enough just treat the examiner as if it is your normal driving instructor.

If you know or at least think you have ballsed something up dont worry just keep cruising, i stopped half way across the round about because i realised if i kept going i was gonna hit the car that was coming into the roundabout however i just carried on as normal and still passed :ermm:

Dont stress, dont worry take it easy and you should walk away happy. Just remember your instructor wouldnt of booked the test if he/she didnt think you were ready.

good luck mate, stu :ermm:

What he said, Just relax and be confident :ermm: Thats all that matters, you can be a terrible driver but as long as you have some common sense and are confident you should be ok. Although as you said the pass rate is only 43% which is where an element of luck comes into it.

Remember that once you pass you won't ever have to do it again in your life. Unless you drive like a dickhead later on and get banned, in which case you have to do an even harder test!

That's what got me through learning to drive. I hated it.

Make sure you get at least 1000 points :

Old people -20

Middle aged people +75

Fat people +50

Children +55

Ugly people +100

(EDIT : Chavs +80)

If you take out 2 entire families, you get an Instant Win.

EDIT : sorry people, I shouldn't post when drinking.

If you can, book a 30min/1hour lesson with your instructor before hand.

I did about 45 mins before mine. Did each manoeuvre one last last time which reminded me i could actually do them, and helped me get all my mirrors positioned perfectly. Then just drove around the area near the test centre for a bit.

Then by the time of the test i was already in the swing of it and felt comfortable in the car.

Good luck

Don't be nervous. For the love of god don't be nervous. I stalled a good 5 times, and that was where i lost count. I got 3 minors for clutch, and 3 for gears, so go figure how many times i screwed up. (Y)

If you know how to drive, you'll pass. I failed because i didn't know how to negotiate a round-a-bout properly, and simply didn't know how to drive. (i failed for parking opposite a side road).

Good luck, and i'm not going to lie, it isn't a nice experience.

problem with that idea is it EITHER makes or breaks people....

if you do well in your lesson, you will be mega confident going into the test and do well.

if you make even the slightest mistake in the lesson, it will scare you and you will fall apart in your test!

ididnt have a lesson before mine-instructor was busy, didnt even use his car in the end, i wanted it over and done with, so borrowed my girlfriends mums car and off i went!

I was really suprised when i had my test i thought i was going to be really nervous but i wasnt, i found the test really easy and it was over in 30 mins.

All you have to do is keep calm dont rush and just drive as you would on a normal lesson aslong as you can drive well enough youll be fine.

Few pointers

Always be cheaking your mirrors, just do it all the time.

When your pulling off take your time so you dont stall.

Obviously keep to the speed limit.

When they ask you to pull over ( i had to about 5 times) signal and check mirrors, that was somthing i did wrong not signaling.

They may seem obvious but when your nervous itll be easy to forget, but seriously it really isnt all that bad if you fail its no biggy just make sure you pass second time.

Its 80% luck on the day i think. We can give you all the advise in the world, but its down to luck on the day with which examiner you get/his mood at the time/his ability at examining/other road users on the day.

Just drive like you do with your instructor, you know you can drive safely, so show the examiner that!

But yeah basically i think its just luck on the day - Jenson Button could fail tomorrow and hes a damn good driver

Hehe this is where i love the army, in jan the first week is my cat B theory then once i pass that i then go onto cat B Driving test if i fail i do it either an hour later or the next day, which is quite good. Then when i pass that i then go onto learning to drive tanks which is going to be ace.
