No More Down Tube Denting Worries Ever Again!

if they lowered the tt down the seatpost so it was half way down, then put 2 wires (one on each side) they would always have tension, no matter whether you were hooking or enodoing (Y)

you'd just have to make sure they were both at exactley the same tension :)

phwoooaaaar, or the headtube and tt junction could be a hinge and you could custom adjust the headangle with the wires (Y)

If you fell off, you would cheese wire your scrot off.

Interesting design, like said not really for trials though!!

It looks like a mega mega lightweight XC frame, as things like the zipp wheels (which are carbon, and cost riddiculous amounts of money circa £1200!!!), carbon bars and sram xo mean its uber expensive!!!

If anyone's interrested, the website is here - Slingshot Bicycles

$1200 for a frame? not cheap but a tad crazy!!

I'd have to kick that wire/rod before I trusted that bike, wouldn't want to miss a wall and destroy what is effectively your downtube :)

Hey, mechanically, if you think about it, the down tube only works in traction, not in compression, and that's what cables are good at (Y) . So It could be actually stronger than a rigid tube, providing the fixing points are sturdy.

I really like the innovation there... But yeah, in trials, instead of denting a ghost down tube, it would probably fold the bike in two (Y)

Nah, I meant they're going to be light-weight built. So they're not going to be double-walled stuff like that, meaning that they're gonna be a bit dodgy to drill, and then ride over rough ground...

But yeah, aerodynamics are important to XCers, otherwise there'd be way less Veet sold (Y)

What are you talking about?

Any decent Xc rim is double walled. Its only real cheap and nasty entry level bikes that have single wall rims.

On topic : I like it as a concept bike. Don't fancy it , even for XC....

Only in an ideal situation, if you hit a rock, or apply the front brake hard, then the force will act to compress the downtube.

- and that Try-all fornt rim 590g!!! talk about heavy, its single walled and drilled too. a D521, while being slightly thinner, is double walled and not drilled and weighs the same! is also much stronger.

Cant really see it working to be honest! Looks a little dangerous...you probably ride xc worse than normal on that bike cause you be shitting it that, that wire is just gonna snap, twist, bend or break off while riding along and the whole frame will collapse into the floor ending in a face plant!

It always good to see new designs the bike industry but i dont think this concept was meant to be.... :ermm:

:ermm: I might be wrong...
