Tom Booth
Hi y'all. Im looking into a new rear wheel, and have noticed tartybikes... a bike shop have them on offer. Just wondering what there like on life span? How many grinds are they good for? Can they hold a grind? What are they like for denting? Do they go all gay and snap when the dents pulled? Just general information about them. Cheers Tom Ps i dont want 'OmGZZ!!111 DuNt G3t 1z!! sir trial a lot
hey, i use them front and rear and they have taken quite a bit of abuse. fairly heavy taps on a single walled front rim and running really low pressures on the back and mine are still as new. as for grinds i wouldnt know as i dont run one, sorry. hope this helps!! Impacted.
They're great (by that i mean damn well better than koxx rims...) they hold grinds for aaaages (then again, compared to koxx rims but whatever) 21 grinds so far and only 4 dents in the rim (which have been fixed with an adjustable spanner). Ooh and also there's a lot of braking area so setting up brakes is a bit easier and flatspots (little ones anyway..) don't make any difference to the braking, aaaand they're pretty light! Get one. Edit: there is a downside though, they're a bit thin (38 mm or summat) so I had to push the maggy calipers right in which resulted in the rear brake being a right biatch to set up, but yeah that's with a pitbull (supidly wide frame) but I see you have T-rex which is basically the same... Gaz M
get some tom, you know how heavy andy can be and i think hes only ever dented his once (tiny), they hold grinds mint biffs brake was amazing on the echo rim with plazzies andies is really good and his grind is totally dead, the stock rims are made from the same material so theyll be just as good (Y) (Y)
Burton
Buy em. They hold grinds well, better than ronnies and hog/v!z/koxx rims. Similar to alex i think. Fairly strong, dented my front un, when the trusty Team forks snapped on a sidehop (Y) Only thing that put me off getting one for the rear instead on the ronnie, was the 32h-ness. But i run a sweet hog now, still dent-proof(some-how) and grinds well. Just go for the rims(Y)
Tom Booth
Cheers lads. Much apretiated help (Y) Haha andy's dented his once, I dented my ronnie about 6 times last time i was down mansfield (Y) But then again, i was running 14 psi and i am abit of a fatty :) Cheers Tom Edited December 1, 2005 by Tom Booth

I got that problem also. The lever pulls almost to the bars, which isn't good (for me) I've had the rim since January and i have a few lil dents and its slightly flat spotted but dnt really bother the brakes. As for grinds, well i i put one on the other day, It looks good, but i cnt test it as my hubs fecked! Get one there ace! and for that price............... Mr Motivator
The join on my front one opened up about 5mm and twisted, then it folded open flat. I dont like them (Y)
TheMunn
They are good rims, however you do need to build them strong, use good spokes etc. One of my friends had a rear one but the spokes weren't so good and it ended up looking like a mis-shapen egg/heart thingy. So very good rim providing you have good spokes/build.
downhill_rob2@hotmail.com
Just buy a new Echo 06 rim (Y) The are TRULEY AWSOME!!!! lol I love mine (Y)
Mark W
I got that problem also. The lever pulls almost to the bars, which isn't good (for me) Overfill le Magura (Y) Solved my "tiny rim wide frame" woes, anyway. Don't have to go mental with it to achieve decent results too... So very good rim providing you have good spokes/build. Thats my wheel! This is what happens when you dont have good spokes As for dents in 1 month I got 6 in mine and I only had about 5 rides on it and only did small stuff due to an injury to my leg. I also had the problem of not being able to set my rear brake up very well. Despite this they are good rims and they look great.
Clarky
them rims are like tin-foil.
N.Wood
Sorry this isn't 'first hand' experience, but my riding buddy had a rear Echo for a week and put 3 dents in it, so swapped it for a Ronnie and used the Echo as a front rim. For comparison, he hasn't dented the Ronnie in 6 months of use. Why not get a bad-ass 48mm one?
