theone2be
Has any one got any tips they've found out for applying grips to make them really stay in place, because i have a real tendency to hold the grips really tight and they start moving around the bars. Just wondered if any one had any hints they found out to keep them in place. thanks
Jeza
I normally use a tiny spray of hairspray little is better than too much, as the hairspray drys it acts as a glue, but doesnt affect the time taken to get them off either as the glue seal easily brakes. llandudno_trialsboy
have you tried hair spray? that seemed to work for mine but i used grip glue for my moto-trials bike the definatly stayed in place.
t-mag_rider
I have found that hairspary works the best, or you can use spray paint or you could use glue, and one other thing you could do is to use compressed air. If you need any more info let me know and I will post some, as i am not in a mood for typing a lot. Hope I help. Ollie
deanie-b
ok, Ok, Why does everyone use hair spray?, that what i use for getting them OFF!!! Get your grips off if they're not already on, Paint a little bit of metallic under there, just a smidge though!, Twist the grips on, and leave them to dry for 5-6 hours, hey presto your sorted (N) Cheers buddy
Jules
I dont use any thing to put them on, i just push them on really hard, its not as hard as you may think and there is no problem about them slipping around. When i want to take them off I will usually just cut them off with a stanley knife because i use my grips until they are practically falling apart. Hope i helped. Jeza
and there is no problem about them slipping around. By having them slipping i feel you lose power, because your hands generate a lot of the pull etc Jeza
t-mag_rider
By having them slipping i feel you lose power, because your hands generate a lot of the pull etc Jeza I think he means that if you just push them on then you will not have the problem of them sliding. Correct me if im wrong though. Hope I help. OLLIE
spode@thinkbikes
If I have to remove them, I spit on a screwdriver, pop it in and twist it around. I then take a hair dryer and dry the grips and bars, but also heat up the grips. Then I just put them on dry. It takes FOREVER. You just keep pulling and twisting. But it's completley worth the effort. I've tried a lot of different techniques and this works the best - they 100% stay on.
zoo_tom_trials
I use hair spray to put them on and leave them for like 1 night and they dry rock solid. Hope I helped Tom
PhenoVenom
Spray CRC Brake Cleaner, put grips on, wait for ONE minute and off you go - 100 % stay on. Easy enough?
bikerboysam1
i just push them on and off i go but it can sometimes take quite a while as some grips are a bit too small normally, just puch (force) the grips on and your sorted the advantege of this is that once they are on, you can go straight away, no more hasstle. Hope i helped, Sam
Dan6061
I use a cheap version of WD40. But my grips are quite tight anyway, so even straight after i've put them on, they stay. (WD40 works too)
ogre
I find petrol, if not slightly smelly does the job, but with bar ends and brake levers the grips should be ok anyway
Alex_Pavlou
I have found that Hairspray does the job, but when the grips get wet the grips start to slip. However i have heard that Disc Brake cleaner works well too
Simpson
(N) I use a cheap version of WD40. But my grips are quite tight anyway, so even straight after i've put them on, they stay. :P (WD40 works too) Even though its a lubricant and takes hours / daays to dry  maybe ok with foam grips though :- I use deodrant as apparently it evaporate easier
lankyri
boil a kettle and stick the grips in there so there all nice and wet stick the grips on bar where you want them leave them to dry and have a cup of tea come back out they should have dried go ride thats what i do

sir trial a lot
im currently using the koxx rubber grips and they have a little hole in the end so i use compressed air to fit mine. Before i used this technuque (sp?) i used to use multi purpose glue and when i wanted them off just break the seal with a screwdriver and pull them off! compressed air is the easiest as you can pop them on and off in seconds. :P
Dan6061
;) Even though its a lubricant and takes hours / daays to dry :) maybe ok with foam grips though :( I use deodrant as apparently it evaporate easier It doesn't take long to dry, surprisingly B) Deodrant works well too.
