JIX
I need to get grease off my hope trial disc pads. I have read about boiling and baking. Which do people who have tried find to work better. Im more inclined to boil them but if baking is better then I will try that. Also how long do you stick them in the pan for? Do u boil the water first and then stick them in and bring to a simmer  Chef school. Or do you put them in then bring to the boil?? Si-man
Stick some brake cleaner on the pads to get rid of any residue, then put some petrol on em and light em. Anything flammable will do it's just petrol is more fun lol Or just get a blow torch and burn the shit out of them
that NBR dude
I find it best to bake (well blowtorch) them Ped, as it actually casues the oil and residue on the pads to ignite, so it actually burns the grime off. The only thing I can see about boiling them is will sterilize them
Technical Tom
I've contaminated my pads and rotor before twice and both times I've boiled them, and now my brake is amazing. cheers, Tom
haydon_peter
The only thing I can see about boiling them is will sterilize themThe oil will get washed out of the pad and layer on top of the water. This is the theory anyway, I have never had to do it...
Rich Pearson
Blowtorch, long pair of tongs, and some very thick gloves. Rich
JIX
Does blow tourching them not damage the pad material??
spode@thinkbikes
Well, last time I did this. I baked them, then boiled them and then gave them a zap with a blowtorch. I have no idea which one works! But I didn't want to go putting it all back in the frame and then finding it out didn't work. And all 3 methods have merits, so I figured it wouldn't harm! shovel
one of my friends used a blowtorch on his and then put the pads in a glass of coke supposedly the coke helps to take the glaze off them too? i dunno, but his brake has worked amazing since

011001000110010101110010
Fairy liquid, the detergent breaks down the oil. Give them a good scrub.
JIX
Just to let people know, I washed my disc last night with a jay cloth with some fairy liquid then rinsed it thoroughly with high powered hose (not pressure washer), and blow tourched the disc pads. It now works a treat and locks, and doesnt squeal like a bitch. Cheers for the advice :P
