Joe_Elding
Hi, I'll probably be building up a stock after chrismtmas 'because my mates got a new frame so can sell me his Ali bongo. I've got a plan sorted in my head theres just a few things I need reccomendations on: Forks: i liked his bike which had fatty forks on but I've been told you can't get these any more? So something a simalar length please, preferably 2bolt/disc Rims: I'll probably buy a mavic wheel off my mate for the front but what what is there for the back? I could pick up a mavic pretty cheaply but i heard there too thin for most frames? Stems: I'll be riding mostly street but will do the odd sidehops and gaps etc. What stems would you recommend, Toxsin looks alright? or the echo ones? Cheers :)
shovel
for forks echo urbans would be a good choice, i've just changed from a set of fatty-r forks to these in 4-bolt and they are very good, bit lighter about 10mm longer and a bit stiffer too, they're also available in 2 bolt mounts/disc option too, looking at £82 for them for the rear rim you won't want something too wide for the frame so an onza ronnie rim would probably be a good choice, about £35 for that i think the stem will come down to personal preference in the end but any of them would do, maybe 100mm 5 degree would be about right for what your doing, varies though, some people like long stems some like short, up to you on that one
Felix
I had a 28mm Mavic and a 38mm DX32 in my Ali Bongo. Both fit fine. With a V-brake that is. I'd go with a stem that is about 15°x100mm. Maybe a bit shorter if you like it streety. 5° will definitely be too low, because of the bb rise. Unless you're a fan of super low bars :)
