Is Trials Biking The Most Expensive Sport

I have been riding trials for nearly 4 years now and I must of spent thousands on the bikes that I have had, and I was just wondering if there is a more expensive sport other than trials and motorbike trials.

cheers Abe

It's not that expensive, after all, you are buying high performance bike with high performance parts and as well as having to perofrm well, they need to endure mounting stress, every drop wil weaken the majority of your parts at a time.

It will be expensive over four years but just aobut everything will be if you count the money you've spent, it's just you notcie your shiny new blue bike parts a bit more than your shiny new chinese take-away.

I've only just got into trials and i agree that it is expensive, but most hobbies are, it just bepends how far you want to take them, so any hoby or interest could be more expensive, it just depends how seriously you take it, there are more expensive sports/hobbies like flying planes (the big things, not the radio controlled onesalthough prety costly to) my mates dad does it and the lisencing for it is, "not cheap".

Yeh try not to go into F1 racing, that shit needs dorruh.

:)

Just be glad you don't have to dick about with suspension etc.

Trials is realativly cheap. If you buy decent stuff, you shouldn't have a problem.

moto trials is one of the cheapest forms of motorcycling out there

the bikes can take a beating without damaging anything

and if anything is damaged its basically just a clutch or front brake lever.

The bikes themselves are also cheaper than MX bikes

Depending on how you ride, the tyres will last up to a season.

so overall its not that expensive

road cycling is expensive as i have found out, like my boss who is semi pro owns a shop etc, was looking and getting a new frame that retailed at 5500 pounds, so i think road cycling has to be the most expensive cycling disaplin(sp)

yeah trials is quite cheap compared to other biking, although this year i've replaced everything on my bike apart from front wheel and brakes which i'm glad i did because i love my new set up, although it did take alot of saving (worked almost everyday during easter holiday to pay for my king :) )

most of us don't have suspension so we dont need to worry about buying it, servicing it etc and the cost of dh and high end xc/jump frames is getting quite a lot these days

saying that though trials is hard on the bike and stuff will need replaced frequently, it does help with costs a bit though working in a bike shop :)

That's just sheer indulgence on his part though. He doesn't need that frame to ride. I have friends who I'm sure would beat your boss on their £200 frames. Even Lance Armstrong only rides the factory Trek frame.

no he doesnt need the frame ill agree, but if yeah he could race on some 200 pound frame but he would be alot slower, but the frame is made my a company BMC and only 50 of the frame being made and it it the dogs bollocks of time trials frames,

and by the way he is a semi pro used to be a pro byt due to injury in his career he had to step down, he was set to ride the tour but then got injured

yeah Lance Armstrong may ride a Trek factory frame but it is a madone carbon frame which costs at least a grand. . . . .

well at least that since the full build of a similar spec for joe public to buy is about four grand

oh man trials is cheep compared to downhill. my dh bikes is soo expensive, like 4 pairs of tyres at £30 a tyre, £200 helmets, gloves, a few pairs for wet days, body armour, spd shoes if you run spuds, my frame is bout 1500 with my forks at 1100 and then racing where entry is bout 50 a weekend with new rear mechs every other race as i just seem to wreck them, then suspension tuning and servicing, wheels when they brake, its just insane but i love it soo much i dont care!!!
