Is Trials Biking The Most Expensive Sport

i find trials is cheaper then most other cycling sports, though i depends on how much you ride and what stuff your riding, iv just got my freeride bike insured, its valued at 4.5k, components are getting really expensive and getting anywhere decent to ride like morzine or whistler costs loads

i work in a bike shop and i have picked up on a few things.

road is probably the most expensive and you have to have a winter training bike (minimum 500) and then a race bike which can go up to 7000 for a trek madonne. its real nuts!!

then you have to add on, the lycra, spd shoes and cleats, aero helmets.

the carbon accesories can really amoutn to a lot. i advise not takin this sport unless you at a standard like lance armstrong or better, because it will bleed your pockets dry!

stick to trials!

adz

I do motocross and that is really expensive - you have to buy the bike, gear, petrol, parts for bike, tariler/van, club membership, race fees, e.t.c and you have to pay £30 to ride it at a track for a day!

nitro rc is also very expensive as the cars are so un-reliable and you always have to buy new parts for them , and fuel :(

Downhill, bmx (costs loads lol), xc must be quite expensive, road bikes (not cheap)

BMX is cheap as chips compared to most bike sports- the absolute top possible spec bike is about £1000, whereas you're looking at almost double that for trials and more like 5-6000 for XC, downhill and road bikes.

Basejumping is dear you have to buy a new parachute everytime if it opens, bit silly really

Surely not? That sounds like BS to me!

Mad props for the 4 year bump.

And no, no it's not - i sail pretty competitively and that's getting horrendously expensive. £8000 for the boat (and that's cheeeeeeap), another £1000 for kit, getting places, doing shit, 300 euros just for entry to the Europeans

I couldnt really say trials is expencive, it just depends on what sort of riding you do, agression allways will break things. If you have a good bike, no problem.

As for other expensive sports my dad does windsurfing and he has spent over £3000 on his rig, Harness, board, sale ect.
