Dan-Walker
i have just bought a kmc kool chain k710, it rubs against the bash. should i leave it and let it make a groove in the bash ? or should i turn my chain ring around iv heard doing this may cause the chainring bolts to rip out and fu*k up the threads ? ive got middleburn pro trials what do u think ? dan. Felix
I put washers between chainring and bash, because I had the same problem. Works fine since April.
Phatmike
Turning the chainring around will help slightly (presuming you've got one of the middleburn style ones). I'd do that and then just keep riding, it'll wear in fine within a few days riding, mine did the same on my pro bash, on my super pro bash, and again on my super pro bash with the KHE chain i'm currently running. Janson
oh no, don't remind me of your KHE, mike. my god, how sketchy didn't your drivetrain sound?!
Dan-Walker
Are the split links that come with it weak as i am unsure wether to put it on i have used split links in the past.
Clarky
Just let it rub on the bash. clarky
Dan-Walker
Will this damage the chain and should i use the split link that comes with it dan Edited November 27, 2005 by identitijudge05
Felix
Will this damage the chain and should i use the split link that comes with it dan Use the split link. The one coming with the kool chain is strong. Put it on the other way round, then it doesn't rub on the bash.

mad_gavo
if you turn the bash round and add washers get some longer chain ring bolts (like the ones that come with tensiles) then theres no chance of it stripping
Urpedigreechumdog
I just left mine, but keep an eye out for the bolts.

011001000110010101110010
Or buy a the thinner version? Mine is fine on a Super Pro bash.
Phatmike
Are the split links that come with it weak as i am unsure wether to put it on i have used split links in the past. Use the split link. The one coming with the kool chain is strong. I used to say this, but I can safely say they are not as strong as the rest of the chain. Don't bother with the split link, take a little while longer, and use the tool. oh no, don't remind me of your KHE, mike. my god, how sketchy didn't your drivetrain sound?! Yeah, but it's bedded in now, so it's fine. (Y)
Felix
I used to say this, but I can safely say they are not as strong as the rest of the chain. Fair enough. I snapped several Kool chains, but never at the split link.

downhill_rob2@hotmail.com
I used to say this, but I can safely say they are not as strong as the rest of the chain. lmao, Adam read the pie boy that he is found that out with my chain! but in his little bag of mysteries, he just went, "**snap** oh shit rob, iv just this second got on your amazing fantastic best bike iv ever ridden bike and snapped, your chain, no worries, i have a spare...." I was like :) :) :santa: I didnt have much confidence in that chain from then on lol, snapped it 5 times in total, so i asked nicley at my LBS for a new one and i would pay them when i got the money, i never did :P
