chrishayton
Right, the left hand pad (piston) on my mono trial doesnt move much at all, i bought it 2nd hand and it was sticking, so i sent it hop and recieved a new caliper and still have the same problem. so does anyone else suffer with this. its the left hand piston, the right 1 moves fine. cheers
domonza
Not really to sure about hopes. but try putting your finger over the right piston and hold it down, then pull the lever for a few minutes and this should make the other piston work harder and may stop it sticking. :'( ;) As i say im not really to sure about hopes though. :'( Worth a try though. nmt_oli
Remove pads, hold good piston in while you pump bad piston out (don't go too far) apply some silicon lube to the piston and push back in. pump in and out for a while, should then be good. James_Porter
have had this problem so many times, and so have many others i know. I sent it back to hope after it did it like 3 times and they sent me it back about a month ago with new seals and it did it again. i have found that pumping the pistons out quite far then squirting gt85 around it then pushing it back in then doing it again works. also found that gt85 works better than dot fluid for it. mine does it when it gets really wet, like when i go on a real wet ride. same for anyone else? JIX
It is sooo weird because I have had my one a year now, and I have never had this problem. I have just left it alone and it has worked its self out. It did rub a little after I had set it up, but just left it and it worked its self out and doesnt rub. Waynio
ye gt85 is a good dofer. i used dot 4 on mine and it worked, but its a pain in the arse the best thing to do would be to (if mechaniccaly minded and can bleed a hope brake) get both pistons completly out of the caliper, may need the flower style tool to do so, and have someone lube them up good and proper as if half of a piston is dry and half not it can penetrate to the dry bit, so its best all lubed up before sticking them back in. Waynio......................... silicone stuff or a smearing of copper slip.
petit_pablo
Thought i would add my brake problem to this topic.Ive had a hope mono trial on the front for around a month and its been fine till last night.I was out on a ride and for 2 hours it was fine, was gapping to front wheel and going up to front quite happily. Then all of a sudden as i landed on the front wheel it locked hard, screamed like a pig and almost launched me over the fornt. Now, its does this everytime, screams, judders and has lost all modulation. Any help, all i can think of is a stuck piston????
downhill_rob2@hotmail.com
maybe the disk got abit too hot?Or maybe youhave spilt some oil or summit on the rotor?Does it lock and then judder along without holding? like if you have spilt oil on the rotor? chrishayton
youve probably cracked the rotor, i did this 2 weeks ago. hope will send you a new one for free. just ring them up. the trial rotors arent really up to the job of trials. JonPace
I wouldn't worry mines done that a few times, I just pour water on it a few times and ride and it goes away pretty quick.
