_skj0lsvik_
I`m just wondering which pads who are best on a front v-brake.. I`m using some plaz pads right now but the sound of these pads starting to annoy me : ( So the faboulous question is: What v-pads are best? They have to be silent and as grippy as plaz pads on a ground alex dm24 : ) Sondre
Dr. Nick Riviera
wrong forum and ive heard nothing but good things about heatsink vee pads
CurtisRider
lol i hated my heatsink red pads :P gonna have sum heatsink whites soon, but you cant get them anymore the red plaz crvs(rare as fook apparently) are very good but appear to have the same noise as the yellow ones... spanish flies are also noisy lol the high level of noise could be down to your brake, has it got loose or rattly bushings? _skj0lsvik_
yup, it vibrates when I brakes... It`s only a mm or something but that certainly doing its job! I have tried to sop the vibraion but no, I cant manage to make it stop vibrating totally... : (
CurtisRider
thats a major reason behind the squealing, i suggest getting an avid ultimate :P but thats rather costly just put up with it :P

Heatsink
lol i hated my heatsink red pads :) gonna have sum heatsink whites soon, but you cant get them anymore..... Almost 1 year on, and the message I'm getting back loud and clear from riders is that the Heatsink whites are overwhelmingly the pick of the crop out of the various compounds I tried. You'll be pleased to know that because of this, Heatsink Vees once again come with the white pads as standard, and the refills on their own are available too (soon to be added to site) :P :)
CurtisRider
yay! ill be buying some refills soon then (Y) the heatsink backings are superb, they are proper stiff, and i love the fact i can run any maggy pad in them-gives me a good choice of pads :) i had whites for a short time when i ran a maggy, and they were impressive, so with a decent brake.....they should be incredible  anyway, with the v brake, there isnt much you can do about wobbling-the washer thing doesnt really help(well hasnt with my previous brakes) weirdly, i accidentally got oil on my front rim, and the power didnt appear unaffected-yet the brake was basically silent :D not that you should go spraying oil on you rim on purpose :P
Mark W
anyway, with the v brake, there isnt much you can do about wobbling-the washer thing doesnt really help(well hasnt with my previous brakes) You could try it in case the bolt is simply too long, but the tolerances for the inside of V-brakes and for V-brake mounts seems to be pretty low, so they're usually not a super tight fit anyway. You *could*, I suppose, try shimming out the inside of the V-brake where it mounts the post using some coke can or something, but that might not work... CurtisRider
i think coke cans would be too thick, i guess if you machined out the v brake bush, then had a shim made especially for it, that would work-alot of hassle when you can get ultimates for only 60quid now (or like 35 secondhand) with lovely cartridge bearings (Y)
