fairy elephants
I was out on a ride last week some time, and my headset felt loose... tried to tighten it up, and there was no joy. after closer inspection, i noticed that the top cup of my headset was moving in the frame... which to me, meant flaired head tube... Today i just decided to take it all apart, to see if i could do the "coke can bodge" so that i can still ride untill i get my new frame. Thats when i noticed this... has anyone else ever had this happen? I got the headset from CRC around 10 months ago, so although i could try for a warentee, i dont think its really worth the bother... pic1 pic2 pic3 I no the pics are of a low quality, but its the best i can do, and you get the idea anyway... Alex. P.s, anyone that is willing to donate the top cup from a cane creek S2 would be loved forever!! nafan
Oooo that's strange, is your steerer tube ok in your forks, and no I don't think it would be worth messing about with warranty Cheers, Nathan :P
fairy elephants
The steerer appears to be ok, it was just wobbleing like it does if you dont put the compression ring in the headset... :P
Waynio
i will try find the top half of an FSA XL2 headset that i used to use a few years ago. and send you that, its not worth the ££££ to send the headset back, they may do it as the headset may be "defective" as in the material. is a strange one and iv never seen that before. Waynio.................... (ps il have a route round in my shed tonight if i can get past all the alloy wheels and blinking car bits.) trials_pimp
Ah that brings back memories. I remeber doing somethign like that to one of my headsets. Strangest thign was is that it was not loose, or visable. I only took the headset out to clean the frame properly, and the bottom cup was in 3 peices. Nice suprise
