nicky
when i pedal my bike doesnt go anywhere and makes this noise. it only happens sometimes though. i heard it was the bearings slipping in the bottom bracket.
SuperDeathMonkey
If you're pedaling and your bike isn't moving sounds like you're freewheel or freehub skipping
nicky
ok thanks for the help. it feels like its coming from the bottom bracket though.
SuperDeathMonkey
You might have rounded the cranks so they are just spinning round the axel
llandudno_trialsboy
probably is the freewheel. What freewheel or free hub you running? hope you get it fixed
Concussion
You haven't rounded off your chainring ring teeth have you?
nicky
would i need a new crank? because ive got another crank the same as it. so changing the cranks is not a problem
Walleee
No, if your pedalling and not going anywhere its the freewheel/freehub as someone else said, unless of course you have no teeth on your chainring(as someone else said) but in that case your chain would constantly fall off. iIf you can turn the pedals, then the cranks taper wouldnt be broken. What type of bike it is??
JT!
As said above it most likely the freewheel rounding out. Just replace the freewheel (ACS clause will do) and just get your local bike shop to put it on. It wont be your bottom bracket, as if it was knackerd, the cranks would still turn round. James_Richardson
Could very well be the BB threads going, thats what happened with mine. Or the internals of the BB.

Which threads? If it was the bottom bracket and the cranks were still turning, which I understand they are, he would still get drive when the cranks turned clockwise. bikerboysam1
i would have to agree with everyone else, its either your freewheel rounding out, or your bottom bracket
