Echo Headset 2005

Got my echo headset from selectbikes the other day (great service) it all came together but there was no forks race i already have one but when put with the headset it doesnt slot in or anything but it did come with a small silver cup thing and when i put the forks in without the race its fine is this ok or should there be a race?

Hey, ye there is no fork (hit it on) race, you have the headset with the bearings already in, a topcap and 2 bearing races, the silver race goes onto the forks it has a slot so you dont need to hit it on, the idea is when the headset is tight the taper will push up into the bearings keeping it tight on the forks.

The same applies to the top part which is black, very simple easy to use design.

Yer this same with me although i just put mine on and it sits just above the bottom but is still very smooth. So the silver ring goes on the fork first ? If so do you put it upsidedown?

The silver part sits so the taper gets smaller going up the fork.
