Bu as far as I know, you'll have to re-install it over your current version of Windows. And you can do anything you want when you're re-installing the OS. You could go back to Win95 if you wanted to... I think it's stupid what they've done. Basically Microsoft could easily have made the Xbox360 able to stream stuff over the network, which is exactly what Xbox Media Centre for the original xbox does.
